i just got 50 verbatim 16x. i know people have said to burn at half the speed. is that the speed of the blank or the speed of the burner?i have been burning at half the speed of my burner which when i used 8x disc that would be the max for that disc. should i try half the disc speed. since i have started useing anydvd and clonedvd i have only had 1 small mistake with a movie.(crash) ate the 13:14 mark had a slight skip in it. i did reburn it at 2.4x and is perfect.

here's an example thread re bitsetting (also known as booktyping) - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/308455

it basically sets a +R disc (you can't do it with -R) to dvd-rom format, in effect fooling standalone dvd players to thinking they're playing a normal shop-bought dvd film. not sure if your burner supports bitsetting though, will have to check..

as to the speed of the disc, half the speed of a disc's speed rating is a good rule of thumb, though i personally would be wary of discs burnt at above 8x. i burn so much stuff before watching/checking them that it would be a lot of wasted time & money to have to redo stuff if it wasn't burnt correctly. i've just finished quite a few days of re-ripping about 100s of my films from originals as i had a shedload of crappy fake media in my collection that's been bugging me for far too long.
