How can I burn a file that exceeds 700MB to a CD-R?

I have an .mpg file that is 710MB, and am curious to see if there is any way for me to burn this file to a CD-R, whether it be by decreasing the file size or what not.

You may use the overburn function of Nero Burning ROM. You may get a shareware version here http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/Data-CD-DVD-Burning/Ner... If you google it there are many other similar sites. I have version 6.0 but the newest version(ie 7.0) is available now. Install & run this program, then click on File->preferences->expert features. Read this tab carefully as it has implications for the kind of CDs you use for overburning and also advices you about the risk to your burner. I've done this for a CD with approx. 705MB and it worked flawlessly. You'll have to try it and see. Can't remember if I used either TDK or Verbatim, but it was one of these. I'd probably suggest TDK. There may be other brands that work better but my experience is limited to the 2 above, Maxell, Samsung & Sony. You shouldn't end up with a bunch of coasters since at the outset you will get a warning that the disc has insufficient space if the 710MB is too much for overburning.

Just get a batch of bigger discs.
They are available up to 900 MB in size.
