I burned a movie on a verbatim dvd+r 16x disk at 16x and it scored a 95 in the nero quality test, but for some reason it cannot play on my stand alone player(can play on everything else). The thing is that I've already made several back-ups of my movies on these disks(burned at 8x and 16x) and they all scored 95's and played fine on my stand-alone.

Anyone have any idea what could have happened? Is it possible that it is just a defective disk that scored inexplicably high on the nero test? Or is it possible that the disk's booktype was not set to ROM by dvd-shrink?

Although informative, that thread didn't really answer my question for this particular burn. I'm still puzzled at why a 16x burn which scored a 95 on the nero test, would fail to play on my standalone while my other dvds, also burned at 16x with a score of 95, are able to.

I didn't put, print or write anything on the disk. It was just a 16x burn on a 16x disk.

I'll just right it off as a bad burn. I guess these disk aren't as reliable when burned at their rated speed.
