After I complete the encoding, and I go to burn a CD or DVD, I get the following error message: drive is in use by another application. This prevents me from burning successfully. Does anyone know what is going on here? Please help...thanks!

PruSucks,
Welcome to the forum. How many DVD or CD burning programs ( like Roxio or Nero ) do you hae installed on the computer? Most programs have Packet writing modules and this sometimes distubs the burning. This is why it is usually recommended that you do not install those types of programs

Mike,

At one time I had both installed on my system, but Roxio kept freezing up on me so I deleted it off my computer. I now only have Nero. Is there a way to correct/delete the writing modules? Also, what type of program do you recommend?

PruSucks,
Nero uses INCD and that is the program you need to remove. This is what I would do. Go to the Nero website and d/l all of the clean tools. Then uninstall Nero using Add/remove programs in Windows. The use ALL OF THE CLEANTOOLS and clean Nero completely off the computer. Re-boot and now re-instll Nero w/o installing INCD ( Custom install)

You will also need to use RoxioZap ( you can Google for it) to remove All of Roxio from the computer. I would do Roxiozap 1st and then do Nero

Edit: found it for you

Mike

I had(have) version 7 on my system and that version of Roxizap is only for Roxio 4/5. Does a version exist for Roxio V7?

PruSucks ,
You might need to use a good registry cleaner instead of thet program. There are free ones on the net and you can Google for a free registry cleaner
