NOTE: If you failed to rip and backup Fantastic 4, then it is likely that you have a bad pressed original, exchange it for a new one.

I ripped it with DVD Decrypter via Mode, File F into my hard drive flawlessly, then I encoded it with Nero Recode 2, using "Advanced Analysis" and burn with Nero Burning Rom successfully. Tested it, watched it and it plays like a charm.

1) rip the movie with DVD Decrypter using Mode, File F

2) import this baby (Fantastic 4) into Nero Recode 2 or DVD Shrink and perform your usual shrinking process, sit back and wait unitl it's done.

3) now burn it with any of your desire burning engines (Nero Burning Rom, Nero Express, CopyToDVD, DVD Decrypter, etc.)

That's it.... easy as sippin' on some Black Label. Enjoyed it and happy burning!!!!

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

Good to know.

Thanks alkohol.

But why would it not be copy protected? As anal as the industry is, this is quite suprising...

It is copy protected, just with the old protection. Shrink by its lonesome did this one for me.

@JXP2307

You're welcome. Like "bigwop" said; "It is copy protected, just with the old protection." I meant that Fantastic 4 has "no special protection" and DVD Decrypter alone can rip it easily that's all. Others have stated that DVD Shrink alone can rip it flawlessly as well.

IS THERE A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE ORIGINAL DISCS?

I have had 2 copies from a rental place, each one did not appear to be scratched and they freeze up at the same place in the movie!!!

What are the chances of that???

Tried ripping with DVD Decrypter and shrink, both times with AnyDVD in the background and both times it failed near teh end of the burning process:

The log seems to look ok until this part:

@chrisfunk

I ripped Fantastic 4 using DVD Decrypter via Mode, File F and there is/are no special protection codes whatsoever. It went through smoothly. However, try the following setup inside the settings from DVD Decrypter and give it another shot. I mean seriously, Fantastic 4 is super easy to rip, that's all I can say.

*NOTE: in prior to the ripping part, let?s tweak/set a few settings inside DVD Decrypter*

** open up DVD Decrypter, go to Tools, and Settings

** at General on ?Removal Method? arrow down to ?Aggressive?

** at I/O, check ?Ignore Read Errors?

** at ?File Mode? check on all of the Remove, Ignore, Patch and Create MDS file.

** at CSS check ?Brute Force -->I/O key exchange,
On Failure: use key from another file [YES]

** at ?ISO Read Mode? check on all Remove and Create MDS file

Once you?re done with the settings, click OK to get out from the settings.

Happy burning!!!

@9mmruger1

Thanks for the compliment -- I'm just trying to help that's all. I could write another guide on how to backup "Fantastic 4" only, but I realized it's not worth it. Apparently, DVD Decrypter can rip "Fantastic 4" smoothly. Therfore, I decided to post the settings inside DVD Decrypter, so it'll be much easier for newbies.

That's a great (and simple) little guide for brute force ripping with DVD Decrypter alkohol.

I think I will link to it in my sig...

It sure is a great tool -- I've done/ripped nearly 99% with that settings and so far DVD Decrypter has been ripping flawlessly. Glad you liked it.

Hey People seems like alot of trouble to go through for this release. I used AnyDVD 5.7.3.1 and CLONEDVD2 by Elaborate Bytes. I like the Clone DVD2 cause it does everything in one easy step. It ripped it, and AnyDVD removed all of the Ad's in the movie. And of course put it on a DVD 5 disk. I had no problems with this one using this combo and it works great. Hope this helps some of you out. By the way, i'm a Newbie so Clonedvd2 make the whole process really easy. Later guys.
