Hi,

I plan to buy a modded PS2 for my son as a gift.

1. I want him to have an option to connect a HD to the PS2.
2. If it is possible, ethernet or wireless connection future could be nice
3. PAL/NTSC compatibilty.

Thus, which mod do you recommend me?

the top mods are DMS4, matrix infinity or DUO2SE (not sure if this is compatible with slim ps2). Duo2 is the cheapest one and the one with the least features although it does support hd among other things but, for pal/ntsc compatibility you'd have to patch the games. dms4 has an ntsc force mode not sure if matrix has that mode as well. dms4 and matrix infinity can have their firmware updated/upgraded where as the duo2 can't. For easier hard drive compatibility it'd be better to get one of the older systems (non slim) but you'd have to buy the network adapter to be able to connect a hd and to get the ethernet support, slim ps2s have built in ethernet port but not really good with hard drive support (you'd need an external hd). As far as the wireless goes, you'd need to buy a wireless gaming adapter because none of the ps2s have wireless networking.
