I purchased the magic v plus modchip and installed it acording to directions on the site for ps2 version 7 and I need some help! When I reassembled the PS2 the console powers up but no boot screen, no matter what combination of buttons I push. Also the eject button wont eject the disk tray. I took the console back apart, verified that everything was correct and well soldered. I removed the chip and cleaned the motherboard up, and reassembled the console to its original state. When I turn it on, same thing, power lights, fan, but black screen and disk tray wont eject. What do you think is the problem? Any troubleshooting suggestions?

thanks, bryan

I would guess you fucked up one of the ribbons

I looked at all the ribbons while putting it back together and they looked fine, went back in place nicely, Is it possible the heat of the soldering damaged a chip? If so would that cause the disk tray to stop functioning?

it could be possible if it got too hot but, most likely not. Have you looked for solder bridging/shorts? Sometimes you can have very small ones that you can miss.

when i removed the chip I cleaned up allot of solder and for what i could see it was ok. Would that cause the whole system to not boot and the disk tray not eject? any other troubleshooting ideas would be appreciated.
thanks
