Hi, when I put the occasional disc in to copy, dvd shrink won't pick up that there is a disc in, just says no disc. Could someone tell me why this happens. One disc in particular was Queer as Folks. Would play fine in dvd player, but wouldn't in laptop or be picked up by dvd shrink or decryptor. Thanks.

Make sure that your DVD burner has the latest firmware upgrades as well. You can check it out by using the last link in my signature block. Just use the search function at the site, enter your burners model and it will provide you with the latest firmware version.

Download it to your desktop and double click on it. Follow the instructions and you are good to go.

Cheers.

Hi and thank you for reply. The discs in question are both new and used, makes no difference. Only can't be read by laptop, ok in normal dvd drive.

What drive do you have in your laptop? Model?

Are you sure it is a DVD drive?

Just asking the obvious questions.

Here is the link for the firmware: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_result.php?kaj=1&isces

Click on the 1.04 and save it to your desk top (when you click on it you should get a download dialog box). Then you can double click on it and it will install.

Post back with your results.

Do you, by the way, know of anyway to take off the region block on this machine, i have read in other forums that I am no the only one with this problem drive.

I don't know if this is exactly what you are talking about. However, sometimes I get the same NO DISC when I put a DVD in. This usually happens after I have already had another disc running in srhink. I usually just shutdown the application and restart it again. At that point, it will see it. I hope that helps.

Hi Newgene, thank you for that, glad to know someone out there has had this problem, unfortunately shutting the whole computor down and restarting has no effect, still get the no disc. Even tried to find it in re author, but no good. One thing I thought of was the Queer as Folk dvd's i bought, i think, were pirate copys, whether this has anything to do with the way they were copied, I have no idea. But now it has done it to a rented dvd, has me confused. Any advise is grateful.
