Anyone else have probs using DVD Shrink with Cinderally Man? FabDecrypter saved file to hard drive, but DVD shrink says 'encountered error and can't continue'. Cites 'invalid data in file VTS_04_1.VOB' which is a Macromedia file showing a Macromedia copyright protection visual. Tried Clone DVD on FabDecrypter Cinderlla Man files on hard drive and it just stops toward the end before burning..

Trying again using DVD Decrypter used in 'file mode' decrypting all files to hard drive but the offending VTS_04_1.VOB file, but may not work... Anyone out ther successfully ripped Cinderall Man?

Try AnyDVD (trial version here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/anyd...) running behind DVD Shrink and your problems should end.

LOCOENG - I always have AnyDVD on in background. Problems not 'reading' the Cinderalla DVD, it's shrinking or compressing it..

lmedina5 - For me, in using what is called CloneDVD [which others tell me it isn't the 'orginal'] it just stops 'processing' or copying the hard drive CM [Cinderalla Man] copy decrypted from FabDecrypter towards the very end. It's surely the VTS_04_1.VOB file [no matching VTS_04_1.IFO file], but if I try to 'rip' without that file, I get errors.. By the way, whats Dvd 43?

@Adnihilo

What I was trying to tell you is to open DVD Shrink with AnyDVD running in the background, go to open disc, select cinderella man. This will save you a step, you don't have to rip to HDD first and then transcode with DVD Shrink, you can just start with DVD Shrink.

I am having problems with Cinderella Man! I have tried DVDShrink, DVD Decryptor, and AnyDVD running in background. I have updated firmware, and updated Nero to 6.6.0.18. It stops everytime at 53%-54% with a CRC error. Disc is not scracthed or damaged in any way. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

Try using FreeDVD to scan folder for any kind of protection. I was having problems with a couple movies used this to scan the VIDEO_TS folder and found Uops protection was copied to folder also.Then try DVD Shrink again.

Had no problem, used DVD Decrypter, then Shrink, and burned ISO image with decrypter.

Using 'Open Disc' is SOP [Standard Operating Procedure] whenever using DVD Shrink w/a movie in the DVD Drive.. Apparently you're not comprehending my initial post LOCOENG..

I used FabDecrypter first saving Cinderalla Man's VOB and IFO files to hard drive because DVD Shrink stopped processing ISO file straight from DVD Movie at about 94.7%... CloneDVD does the same on FabDecrypted VOBs and IFO files, even when using 'custom mode' to copy/burn main movie only.

CloneDVD error was:
Quote:
Instruction at "0x0040435d" referenced memory at "0x027d2df0". The memorcy could not be 'read'
DVD shrink error:
Quote:
Encountered error and can't continue. Invalid data in file VTS_04_1.VOB.

VTS_04_1.VOB is a Macromedia protection file showing a Macromedia copyright protection visual.

Correction on above..

VTS_04_1.VOB is a Macrovision protection, not Macromedia showing a Macrovision copyright protection visual. A shame the 'source' for DVD Decrypter can't be changed to something on the hard drive like 'destination' can be changed...

Try a fresh re-rip rather than using the already ripped files.

You should be able to run AnyDVD and DVDshrink to encode and your burn program to do this movie without ripping to hd first.

If the problem is with the files on the hd, I would re-rip with DVDFab and see what happens.

LOCOENG was just trying to help, he, we, those of us here trying to help, respond to many questions and might miss something in a post.

Sorry.

@LOCOENG,

I just thought that the response was testy and tried to put water on a hot spot. Maybe I misread his response. No harm intended.

I have found that if I have a bad rip, that I am better off in the long run to delete it and start from scratch again. It ususally corrects my problem.

Anyway, you my bud!

I'm thinking the way to 'fix' this problem is by fixing the VOB Navigation to stop referring to the last MacrovisionVTS_04_1.VOB file using IFOEdit... Deleting the file stops the ability for DVD Shrink o access the movie. I just don't quite 'get' how to do it after reading stuff Jaquar wrote like here... http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/252065

I also use dvdfab to transfer to hard drive. DVD Shrink will then be able to compress dvd file with no problems

@burninguy

I initially had trouble ripping Cinderella man with shrink, getting CRC error.

I cleaned the disk. Then was able to sucessfully rip, using shrink > Nero. Had shrink set on Deep Analysis and burned at speed of 4x.

On another forum, lots of people are talking about having problems with bad disks. Either cleaning or returning disk seemed to solve most of these problems. The disk itself is a two-sided flipper, and may be suffering from poor quality control, at least in Region 1.

As far as I know, there is no special protection on this DVD, so it should be able to be ripped with Shrink alone, without any need for AnyDVD to be running.

I was able to rip Cin Man to HDD using either:
- DVDShrink (with nothing running in background, or

- DVDDecrypter (with nothing running in background)

However, could NOT rip to HDD with:
- DVDFab Decrypter (either standing alone, or with DVD for Free running in Background

Same thing I used, shrink > Nero, but got above problems.. Cleaning Disk would indicate you had a 'used' dirty one that perhaps was from a 'rental', however this was was brand spanking new Cin Man DVD, so that can't be the problem. Unless of course I handled the disc wrong, which is very unlikely, but possible.. Perhaps I'll try again though... both Shrink or decrypting w/FabDecrypter..

Did that as well but on trying to use DVD Shrink to compress after is when getting above error... Perhaps will try again...

May of been 'short' and to the point without thanking LOCOENG, however was just stating 'open disk' is standard and common way to use Shrink - not attempting to demean in the least..

So thx to ALL for taking time to comment on your experinces..

@Adnihilo

Even brand new DVDs can sometimes benefit from a cleaning, as there can be residue on it from the factory. So I suggest you give it a try. Can't hurt and takes less than min to clean. (It worked for me, and mine was brand new too)

I think that this is especially true for this particular DVD, since there has been a lot of talk in the forums that there have been a lot of poorly made disks of Cin Man produced.

If you can not get it to work after cleaning it, I'd exchange it for a new one.
