I just read this post of yours: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/267553

If you are using DVD43 uninstall it before you try AnyDVD as they don't play well together.

Anydvd worked perfect backing up Fantastic 4. I have 6 days remaining on my 21 day trial. I hope nobody has had any problems purchasing AnyDVD licence keys.

AnyDvd is awesome, mine has worked purrrrrfectly! I never even did the trial version. I bought my key first and then downloaded and double clicked on the key (downloaded from sight when paid for - also sent in e-mail) and have been thrilled. It is updated constantly and does what it does excellently.

I paid with my hard earned money for AnyDVD and you want me to share the license with you? C'mon, we don't do that around here. It's not much money and you know it's a program you'll actually use.

hey guys, I really need some help. I usually buy my movies from the video store cause I can get them for under 10.00 after they have been used for a couple of weeks, sometimes get them new for 15.00 when they come out. When I do this, I try to make a backup of my movies because my kids r rough on them. When I try to I am always getting an error message. Maybe someone can decode this. I use AnyDVD and CloneDVD by slysoft. I really like it but for some reason have not been working last couple of months correctly. I get the following error message:

Processing error:
G:/video_TS/VTS_08_2.VOB: read error
Data error(cyclic redundancy check)
If reading the media has failed, please clean the surface and try again.

This happens on alot of my burns, I get to copy some movies and some do not. I have backed up Hotel Rwanda, Dukes of Hazzard, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Blizzard, and War of The Worlds, no problem. But then there are movies that i have read that people have no problems in backing up and I get this message The disks are clean so I dont know what it is. Some one please decipher this message and let me know.

I also use 1clickdvd and dvd decriptor. Still the same. I was wondering, could the companies be putting this into the disks they see to rental places to prevent copying when renting. Seems to happen mostly on those DVD's

more than likely, the dvds that you bought are "bad presses" from the factory, perhaps bring them back and ask for another "used" copy in exchange? or another "new" copy that will work? often times the CRC error is because you have a dirty disc or it's a bad press, if you've already used ALL those programs with no success, my guess would lean more to a "bad factory pressing" assuming the discs are clean physically~ :)

good luck

I figured that, but what are the odds that usually 80 - 90 percent are going to be bad presses. I have bought about 10-15 movies in the last 2 months and about 9-12 of them I get this error. It usually is the better movies that make it better at theatre.

I'm with Doc on this one, but leaning towards the scratched or dirty disc as the cause of your woes. The more popular the movies are the more they are rented, and we all know that discs that are rented are not taken care of as well as ones we buy new. Make sure that there are not excessive amounts of scrathced on the discs. If you have more than one DVD Drive you could try another, or try another prog to rip with.

Just a few thoughts.

Just did this one with DVD Shrink in re-author mode - main movie only with latest version of DVD43 running in background.

I also sometimes get video rental ?used? movies and generally the ones they sell are in the ?best condition?. There are still times when they are a bit scratched and although play well in DVD player can?t back up. Someone gave me a Disc Repair Pro by Cel as a gift and it worked well enough on for me to make my back up and then carefully store my original. I have seen some AD Senior members give advice as to common cleaning solutions with ways to clean and remove some scratches without buying a commercial product. The refill solutions etc. for the Cel are expensive so may not be an economical answer. Always try to exchange DVD for better one if possible before trying to clean/repair. Only had trouble getting a replacement 4 times and had to resort to repairing/cleaning.
Used AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 without problems with all movies even F4. New upgrade today!

Maybe you should try DVD Decrypter because it'll skip over the errors if you tell it to. Go to the Options tab, set the Ignore Errors and set re-read to 0 retries; otherwise, it'll keep trying to read over the bad area. If the disc is really dirty, you can try rinsing with cold water and mild soap and buffing it with a cloth. Other things I've heard that works is rubbing toothpaste over the scratches. Also, putting the disc in the refrigerator.

That's COLD! Couldn't resist, sorry!

To 5pickles et al
Use Decrypter with Any DVD in background since I like to copy whole DVD to HD file and then play with options using Shrink or CloneDVD2. Before burning usually create an .iso from stored movie on HD as I've found make fewer coasters that way. AnyDVD was one of the BEST investments I've made other than a 300GB HD to store backups on until I've done my thing and a new DL DVD burner. Still using single layer DVD-R until price of the dual layer DVDs start being more reasonable. Most of my "shrunk" DVDs play great on a friend's 52" Plasma HDTV and haven't seen the need to go the dual layer route yet. Even though a newbie I know enough to NOT ASK FOR OR GIVE LICENSE #'s for AnyDVD or any other program. This is not a Warez site and don't trust those sites anyway. Good way to get viruses and worms. I see where those who try to get or share licenses get banned from site. GOOD RIDENCE!

@Chavo

You will not have any trouble with the key from slysoft. They are excellent to deal with and they keep AnyDVD updated as often as needed.

I purchased it some time ago and really am glad that I did. When you get your key, save it on a disc so that if you ever have to reinstall AnyDVD you have the key stored and don't have to repurchase.

Cheers.

You may not have this option, but, if you have another drive, use it to do the reading of the disc, some drives read discs better. You can use a DVD-ROM drive for the read, and a burner for the burn. I have a PC where i get CRC read errors on some discs. I look at the disc, and it is clean and mostly scratch free. Put the same disc in the burner drive for a read, and it makes it thru with no CRC errors. If you have another drive available for the read, try it and see if you get the CRCs at the same spot, or if it reads right past it. I know not everyone has dual DVD drives, but if you do, don't forget to try the other drive if cleaning the disc doesn't work.
