It could be the quality of the media you have used, what are you using and what speed are you burning at

Well, the media it good. I use it all the time. The MIJ Maxells are fantastic.
What was the compression ratio on Scarface? If I remember that was a pretty long movie wasn't it?

Well besides the media that you are using, the only thing I can think off is, try not to compress the files as much and burn at lower speed.By the way make sure your antivirus is not running in the background.Sometimes,sometimes...turning off anitvirus makes a difference.

Sounds like a compression problem. Try it with advanced analysis and quality enhancements either max sharp or max smooth.

The anniversary edition was digitally remastered with DTS sound. I find digitally (re)mastered always backup better. The movie itself is 2hrs 50 min. Do yourself a favor and try to replace, especially if you want this title in a collection.
Universal has a habit of dual packaging (with another dvd) at a lower price than just what the one would sell for. Look around. I was able to buy Scarface with 2Fast2Furious for under $20 CAD. Already had FastandFurious, so my kid was happy to get an original.

well i know the compression was under the recommended %65.but on the flipside i have backed up long movies such as casino, pearl harbor, and saving private ryan which are as long or even longer than scarface and those copies came out perfect.i'll have it to watch my original copy of scarface and try and notice if the transfer is grainy itself.
