i've used both decrypter in file mode and dvd shrink, both are the latest versions and neither is able to fully read the disk. this is the main movie disk not the special features disk. i have already cleaned the disk and it had played just fine on my regular dvd player even before attempting to back it up so i don't think it's a manufacturer error. any ideas?

Hi mgrilla,

Sometimes you can have a bad pressing and the movie will still play in a standalone DVD player. Standalones are very forgiving of CRC and Checksum errors but computers are very picky and will not accept them???

I copied SW III by using AnyDVD with DVDShrink then burned with Nero without ripping it first.

You can download a 21 day free trial of AnyDVD here:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/anyd...

It?s worth every penny of the price and I think you can get a 10 buck discount by putting Afterdawn in the discounts box when ordering?

Give it a try and if you have no luck with it, the only other course is to exchange the movie..

Exactly what were the errors that you got. I did this movie with AnyDVD and DVDShrink and burned with decrypter. Main movie only. Problems = 0

There are no problems with this movie - done with DVD Shrink in Re-Author mode with DVD43 running in background.

You may have a faulty original.

it's entirely possible, i got it used actually, and after posting this i noticed a lot of minute scratches on it. my disk doctor repair is out of the fluid and i dont have any alcohol or eyeglass cleaner on hand at the moment. oh well you get what you pay for i guess lol at least it plays on the dvd player so all is not lost :)

Try ripping it with DVDFab decrypter (available free). Sometimes this works on difficult to rip discs.

Here is a guide.

the disk was defective, it plays fine on my stand alone player, which is a phillips Progressive scan which pretty much plays anything! it was a used disk and it had a lot of scratches on it i hadnt thot to check. i borrowed a buddy's and copied his with no problem, i kept the original of mine since it is playable on my dvd player so no harm done.
