Heres some info about the 8x taiyo yuden dvd-rs i have bought and please tell me if you think they are real or fake:

In the inner ring of the recordable area there are two sets of codes. One set says "GG000110" and the other says "0417".

On the clear part of the disc right next to the hole, there are two sets of engraving opposite each other each saying "BG5".

HERES SOME INFO OBTAINED USING DISC IDENTIFIER:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:TYG02]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R]
Manufacturer Name : [Taiyo Yuden Co. Ltd.]
Manufacturer ID : [TYG02]
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4.71 GB (4.38 GiB)]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
[ DVD Identifier V4.2.0 - http://DVD.Identifier.CDfreaks.com ]

Hub ID looks good. Here is a quote from kivory666 (DocTY) from this thread:

also, another SURE-FIRE way to distinguish AUTHENTIC TY media is by a laser inscribed coding near the inner hub of the actual disc...

for 4x dvd-r, the coding follows THIS format: GD000xxx (where xxx is the batch number of when it was made @ TY factory)

for 8x dvd-r, the coding follows THIS format: GG000xxx (where xxx is the batch number once again)

for 8x dvd+r, the coding follows THIS format: TG000xxx (same thing applies for the xxx portion)
