WHATS THE BEST COMBO OF PROGRAMS TO USE?

I am a little new to DVD burning and ripping. I want to get as many opinions as possible and get the consesus of what the best combo(s) of software to use for backing up the DVD's that I purchase or download? What will work for decoding or decrypting(whats diff?)? Burning? People say that DVDshrink won't work on newer DVDs, what to use instead? All around, I just want to find the best, easy to use, and most comprehensive. Thanks, I appreciate it.

You can still use DVD Shrink. I use it all the time. DVD Shrink can't handle some of the newer encryptions on it's own though. You'll need a program like AnyDVD to break the encryption. AnyDVD just runs in the background. You can download the 21-day free trial of AnyDVD from http://www.slysoft.com If you like AnyDVD, I suggest buying it. It works like a charm and is constantly updated. Every time a problem arrives, the Slysoft team jumps on it and fixes it. AnyDVD is a very good investment. A free alternative to AnyDVD is DVD43, but it's not updated very often. I don't use it, but some people here do.

if you are willing $$$, AnyDVD and dvdclone2 great quality.
now, we all like free and when it comes to freebies, there is nothing better than: decrypter, shrink and fabDecrypter. those three will do the job as good as the first combo just a little slower. whatever you do, i recomend you get AnyDVD, for it is the best decrypter outthere. see you.
Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

My personal favs are:
AnyDVD - CloneDVD 2 combo
AnyDVD - Nero Recode Combo
DVDShrink - Nero Burning ROM combo
DVDShrink - DVD Decrypter combo
I also have DVD43 and DVD Fab Decrypter, but I don't use them that much.

my favorites in order of speed and quality.
Decrypter/ dvd2one v.2 ISO output and IMGburn to burn (main movie only, most of my backups are.
if the disc is giving me trouble because of scratches, there is nothing like 1clickdvd and copytodvd to burn.
if i'm willing to deal with 1.5 to 2 hours encoding time, shrink to backup the entire movie(i hardly ever do entire disc).
p:s: of course, anydvd is always doing its magic in the background.
Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

I use DVD43 to defeat the protection and DVDShrink to compress the backup. Then I use Imgburn to burn the image to DVD.

I know it's the DVD Shrink area but you asked. IMO, AnyDVD + DVD Rebuilder. CCE is the best, imo. As is AnyDVD. They're both easy to use. And DVD Rebuilder is VERY comprehensive, especially if you want to take a few hours and study up on avisynth filters and Q matrices. Top notch. Just my 2 cents.

AnyDvd in the background and then the list consists of Recode 2 and CloneDVD 2 for most copies that are above 80%, but as of late I have also been using Rebuilder Pro/CCE Basic or HC Hanks as well even with those that the compression is only 15% (or 85) but whenever the movie (like Point Break was at 65% with Recode 2) I simply run it through Recode 2 (no compression) to remove credits and then use Rebuilder Pro or I'll even use Dvd Remake Pro to edit prior to Rebuilder...typically burning an Iso image with ImgBurn or Nero for video files output. Great media is a must.

For years I used SmartRipper 2.41 and Nero Recode.
Then came the movie Forgotten.
I'm now using DVDDecrypter 3.5.4.0 and Nero Recode 2 - I get good quality without sacrificing menus and special features.
I've tried AnyDVD as well and it's a pretty cool program. I just wish I had the cash to get me a copy since DVDDecrypter isn't updated anymore and it doesn't support the newer encryption routines.

Thanks guys, so I have figured out that while using AnyDVD in the background, dvdshrink for example will burn and shrink down to a size that will fit onto one disc. Now what does it mean when you guys say stuff about buring "iso" files, recoding, ect.? Point being, if I use AnyDVD and Nero or dvdshrink or something, can I decrypt and burn away, or is there something else I need? Thanks again.
