Hi, Recently I discovered stop motion animation. I've been using my digital camera to make claymations (I have a lot of free time and no social life). Anyway I made a 3 minute and 34 second AVI movie from all the photos. the resolution is 640 x 480 and it is over 700 MB. I want to know how to compress this without losing quality. I don't even know what software to use. I did turn it into an MPEG with my animation software but It looked absolutely hideous. I still can't figure out how it can be so huge when it is only a little over 3 minutes long. any help would be appreciated.

Well you can Compress it easilly enough but you will Loose Quality But there is no way to avoid that as all Compression results in some Quality Loss.....

The File is probably so Big because you used a very low Compression codec when you rendered this File so to get it smaller you will have to Compress it useing a codec that uses a Much Higher Compression ratio Like DivX or XviD....

You can use a Program Like "Virtual-Dub" to compress this AVI file but First make sure you have the codec you want to compress to installed....

First Load your AVI file into Virtual-Dub and then set both the "Audio" and "Video" to "Full processing Mode" and then go to "Video" to "Compression" and select the codec you want to use and set up the codec settings...Then go to "Audio" to "Compression" and do the Same But with say the MP3 codec....

Once you have set up the codec settings go to "File" to "Save as AVI" and Give the File a Name and save it and in a Few Minutes you will have a New File that will Be much Smaller and should be of fairly good quality....

Cheers
