Did a search and floated around a bit doing some research haven't found out too much other than some recommendations that TDK's photoquality are pretty good, however they appear to only come 1 in a case and no spindle available. I am using a canon pixma ip5000 printer and on glossy labels the dvds come out great but i just want to be able to print on the dvds themselves to save money. I have the verbatim datalife full hub printable dvd's which appear to be a matte, its not at all what i expected, so i come here for help and recommendations, possibly examples and testimonials, thanks.

i use the TY hub prints also. i coat them with krylon clear gloss coat so they wont smudge. i've found if i don't coat them, they will smudge regardless of how long you let them dry.
make sure you set your print on the photo quality and the "premium" printable dvd disc settings. let them dry for at least 15 minutes before you spray them. i usually spray a couple coats to get the glossy look. but don't soak it.

Patricia Nomick's smells like cancer in a bottle, i've used it. As for the settings on my printer i only have "printable disc" and i can set the quality to premium but it always seems to be a bit washed out. I have a Canon IP5000 and the quality is superb on photo paper but not the discs.

LOL... You definitely need airflow when using it, but it serves its purpose... RitekG05s have a nice printable surface (took a chance on 50 for $9.99 plus free shipping from NewEgg a few weeks ago after DocTY and many others reported consistent success with them in the past) and colors are less "washed out."

They burn good on my Pioneer 109 and my LG 5163. I haven't burned any on my LiteOn... TY is still my first choice, though...

The Ridata's have a smooth finish and look better than the matte pritables,but they smudge worse.I have the Canon Pixma IP3000 and IP4000 if you up the intensity of the print about +10 the matte printables look much better.

My inkjet printable Taiyo Yuden and R300 series has never let me down. So far so good, looks awesomely beautiful and it's nearly professional, that's all I can say.

Here is one of my most trusted media, the 8X DVD+R printable Maxell (mij by Hitachi). Looks pretty sweet to me.
And now, here is one of the original.

I don't do much custom designing at all... I've been finding enough custom disc art at customcdlabels.com and hirescovers.com.

@alkohol:
Those look pretty sweet, are the dvds you are using matte or gloss? How is they're reliability? I bought the verbatim datalife plus because of great reviews on them for long lasting. Also what software are you using? I use the cd labelprint and it never lines up correctly on the dvds, below is an example of what it looks like on screen before i print it and the printed, as you can see it looks a bit off in the preview but off on the opposite side that it prints, adjusting the settings ever so slightly sometimes screws the printer up so royally that the cd jams in my damn IP5000:
@paiger651:
So just move the intensity up to 10 you said? (because it goes up to 50) and tick enable ICM?

@qwik3r2
I'm using 8X DVD+R Maxell white hub printable media (Maxell002 - mij by Hitachi). These are awesome media (high quality, it's in the same league as YUDEN and Verbs). Softwares I'm using are:
<> Adobe PhotoShop CS 2
<> Epson Print CD/DVD software (it comes with my R300)
My settings are:
<> inner diameter is 21
<> outer diameter is 119
<> adjust print position is 0.2 mm to the Left
My R300 Properties settings are:
<> Quality Option is PHOTO (sometimes I choose Best Photo)
<> Print Options is PhotoEnhance
<> Orientation is Portrait
With those settings, my R300 has never let me down.

What would you say the top surface of your dvds are considerd, low gloss, high gloss, matte? I think the verbatim's are matte, it just doesn't pop like the gloss dvd labels but i don't like using them because i think they are attributing to some of my skipping and pixelation.
I guess i'll just have to keep on playing with the damned settings until i get it right its such a PITA.

Qwik3r2,first you need to play around with your print position adjustments.After you do that to get it centered if you still have a white ring in the center adjust your inner circle size down until its gone.The verbatim's are odd as they have a 119mm outer circle size and the canon CD-Label print software does not adjust past 118mm so you will never get the white ring removed from the outer using the Canon CD-Label print.
Here are the steps on the printer color adjustments after you load your label in CD-Label print.
1)Click print
2)Next screen click printer
3)Next screen click properties
4)Next screen put a check in print quality high
5)Then in color adjustment put a check in manual click set
6)Next screen move color intensity to around +10 to +14(+10 for darker labels +14 for lighter color labels)
7)Then put a check in enable ICM click ok
8)Next screen click ok
9)Next screen click ok
10)Next screen click ok
11)Next screen click ok
I hope that helps and good luck.

I noticed that cdlabel print cannot go above 118, perhaps that is my problem than, so what software should i use? I WAS using Nero with "ok" results, again it was difficult to determine on screen how it would look before printed, than i uninstalled Nero for a previous version (7 wasn't working right, burned skipping cds) and it removed Nero cover designer. What do you guys use? And is Nero cover designer available for download by itself?

qwik3r2,your label adjustments are not centered.Look at the picture you posted above print position top left adjustments thats where you make your adjustment to get it centered.I had to waste a few disc to get it right.Once you get it set correct write those numbers down in case you have to reset them later for the verbatims.
