I had a 80gb maxtor drive with hdadvance 2.0 and it worked great, so I decided to upgrade. I now have a 200 gb maxtor and hdadvance 3.0
My problem is that when I tried to format the new hdd, it says format error. Then if you boot up again it looks normal, but when you attempt to convert anything, it says not enough free space. Why exactly is this hgappening and what can I do to fix this problem. Thank you very much to whoever can help me solve this problem.

I also would like to add that one of the reasons that I upgraded was due to the fact that this problem began happening with the end of my 80 GB hdd's life. Perhaps it is the new 3.0 version of hdadvance that is causing all of this confusion. If anyone has any idea as to what Im talking about please reply.

wat a coincidence. i bought a maxtor 200gb hd 2day. and it didnt work, but i got it 2 work in the end.
go to
http://www.maxtor.com/portal/site/Maxtor/menuitem.3c67e325e0a6b1f...
and download that program for maxtor. then reformat it as NTFS and as extra storgae settings.
then use USb extreme. NOTE: u need to purn the program to a cd, and you can only download that program with INTERNET EXPLOrer

I bought the hd brand new, and it comes with that program in the box on a cd. I will attempt to do this formatting and let you know how it goes. Thanks man
