Alterative to AnyDVD?

Is there an alterative program to AnyDVD that is free? Same for DVD Clone 2?
Learning more but still leaning on a Newbie status! :)

DVD43 has just been updated and is free. DVDFab Decrypter is also free. DVDFab is a great encryption breaker and ripper. DVD43 is an encryption breaker, but its drawback is that it is not updated as regularly as AnyDVD so sometime you will have to wait for the new program to handle certain new encryptions.
DVDFab is updated quite regularly, only a day or two behind AnyDVD usually.

Ditto above post. I used DVD43 regularly until recently. I got tired of it's "temperamental-ness." It's a great free program, but AnyDVD is WELL worth the $$$ with or without the discount...

Ditto, Ditto AnyDVD eliminates any hassle copying New Movies. It?s updated just a day or so after a new encryption hits the rack. IMHO it?s worth every cent that you pay for it.
DVD43 is FREE that makes it attractive but it was almost 4 months before this latest update. It?s working great right now, but how long will it take for it to catch up to the next Sony Stab at stopping copying?
I say that AnyDVD is the best investment I have made in a long, long time??And I am sure that a lot of AD subscribers will agree...

I wish that DVD43, would work for my windows 98se, and yes i do have an up to date computer, pent.4 and all the bells and whisltles but i refuse in keep paying for a new operating system evertime bill gates invents a new one!
sorry, just needed to vent.

Thanks for everyones follow ups to my post.
As for the free download. Likeall good things that work well. If someone hacked it to get it for free, you can count on some issue to come with it.
Think I will just wait till after the holidays and spend the cash.
Learning more but still leaning on a Newbie status! :)

I did try the free 21 days. It ended on Monday. I liked the program alot and think its worth the cash. I hate spending the money but maybe the only way to go in the future. Just figure I will hold off till new year. Only reason I was trully curious of free version of a program similar is cause I had a movie to do last night
Learning more but still leaning on a Newbie status! :)

With the help of the forum I got the DVD completed I was working on. Worked fine. DVD43 did it for me. I liked it but was more impressed with AnyDVD. Not knowing a great deal about all this but it was more of a appearance and comfort thing that leads me to AnyDVD. Clone DVD2 trial ends soon as well so I will just get them both in new yr and continue to learn.

DVD43 works great for me and has recently been updated to defeat the latest Sony nasties. The idead of PAYING for software to beat commercial copy protection is too wierd.

I too was having a problem activating dvd clone 2 then I simply dragged my desktop shortcut from dvd clone into my desktop shortcut for dvd clone 2. A simple fix don't you think
