I'm using Verbatim DataLife disc, so it doesn't make sense to me I keep getting an incompatible format error message. I've followed Scuba's directions to no effect. I tried to back-up Dukes of Hazard, but I'm getting this message for every movie I try to back-up. Any insight would be appreciated. Here's my log:

Try updating your firmware, you are two patched behind.

Get it here:

How could you tell I was two patches behind and which Firmware do I select and update with? I have a Sony Vaio. Sorry, I have read a few things about firmware on here before, but I don't know which one I should pick. Thanks for your help.

Also, could I update my firmware through Sony? I just don't want to pick the wrong update and ruin my drive.

Your drive may have came in a Sony PC but is an LG drive.

Your burner and current firmware are as follows:
Quote:
HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4040B A112

Burner is the GWA-4040B, and the firmware version is A112. A114 is the newest at rpc1 and can be found here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_result.php?kaj=1&isces

Thanks for your help, I'm guessing GSA and GWA are interchangable? In other words, is this the correct version I need to update with?

What that is telling you is that A114 (the one you need to flash with) is the current version for all of those LG drives.

Okay, thanks for your help and patience. I downloaded the firmware, but went I open it to update, it says it can't find the drive. Also, I would read the instructions, but my computer must not recognize the font. How do I find my drive or if you have a copy of the instructions, would you please post them. Thanks again.
