What does Cyclic redundancy check mean?

Could any please help?
For some reason, I don?t seem to be able to burn anything from shrink.
I used to be able to.

But now it seems to go through the motions, but for some reason around the 98%/99% point the decrypting stops and the following message appears: Error- Cyclic redundancy check.

Could any please kindly steer me in the right direction?

Help wanted?.

CRC error most of the time means that you have a bad/scratched disc. In some cases, (depending on if you have a newer dvd out by sony) you might have encountered a dvd that is out by sony which has the ARccOS protection; or possibly the Macrovision Rip Guard--but the only way to know is to say What Are You Trying To Burn?
And if you happen to be trying to backup a dvd w/ this new protection, I suggest that you download DVD FabDecrypter and rip w/ that.......or download the AnyDVD free trial (21 days) and run it behind DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink--Then, that should break the new protection.

disc appears in order think it must be cr protection.
