If anybody is like me and don't have a nearby bestbuy, Staples have the same 50 pack spindles for $15.94. It's just not feasable for me to drive an hour just for a buck difference unless I picked up about 500 of them.
Here's another great buy:
Office depot has the verbatim, likely 16x,for $12.99 for a spindle of 50 for both formats.

Movies27: I haven't seen any good maxell sales lately.I'm waiting for Office depots sale so I can pick up some of the full hub printable maxells.

Wow! That's really cheap for Verbs. It's too bad that there is no Office Depot by me. There is an Office Max and a Staples near me, but no Office Depot. lol

I live 400 yards away from staples, but about an hour from my nearest bestbuy and office depot. I just got back and staples only had 1 freakin spindle of +1x-8x sony accucore-made in japan. No other spindles in the store! UGGH! They had about 6 spindles of dash's.
I'm glad I picked up 3 spindles of Office depot +8x down in northern cincinati when I went down to tennessee friday.I think all Office depot stores have bad customer service.

Verbatim has been making media for a long long time. You must not go to many electronics/computer stores.

I just got back from OD and noticed the Verbatim -Rs are all made in Taiwan. Is that normal or is this possibly a bad batch? I've read several threads mentioning the diff between Sony and Fuji MIJ vs MIT and didn't know if that applied to Verb or not. Speaking of which, by the time I made it to Staples all they had was two Sony spindles that were MIT...I couldn't find any specific examples of that discussion (was going to re-read to refresh my memory) but exactly what is the diff in quality between Sony MIT and MIJ? Thanks so much!

Verbatim DVD-R MIT coding as MCC are top notch. No MIJ option for those. That $12.99 price is super; if you have office depot nearby.

Verbatim is mostly made in taiwan/singapore/and a little in India and their quality control is very good at all these locations. There's a few reports of cmags out there, but make sure your verbatim media ID's out as MCC. Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. They use the same dye-Metal azo dye- just like taiyo yuden.
The 8x sony is a lot better, quality wise, than the older 4x spindle. The taiwanese spindles are still pretty good. The sony dash 8x will have the same Sony08D1 code for both japanese and taiwanese spindles. I've burned both japanese-Yuden000-T03,and taiwanese-SonyD11, in the plus format and they both are very good. For the same price,I get the yudens in the plus format of sony.
You won't notice much difference between the taiwanese and japanese sony, but you will with the Fuji 8x.I see more issues posted with the taiwanese fuji -prodisc/fujifilm-3,than I do the Japanese fuji- Yuden000-T02/Ty-g02.I'd make certain my next batch of fuji were made in Japan.

Ok I'm going to go to Office Depot tomorrow and get some Verbatims that everyone keeps praising about :)...I use DVD-R, If I'm understand right I need to look on the lable to see where there made at and I want it say made in Japan or Taiwan?
Last week I was in Sears and they had there Maxell on sale 50 pack for 17.00. They had six on the self so I started looking at the label on them and was looking for Japan on them..3 out of 6 were made in Japan so I bought all 3 of them.
I just found out today about the DVD Indetifier, so d/l it and put one the maxell in there and this is the reading I got.
Maufacture Name: Hitach Maxell LTD
Maufacture ID: RG02
Is this a good disk? or should I bring them back. Because I was looking at the first few disc and I noticed the edeging looks like they are wanting to peel away the purple from the disk.
Thanks for the help.
