I have a movie saved on my hard drive; the info file says the codec is DVDR. But that could be false!! I do not understand codec real completely, and the glossary did not help much. Do i need to convert this codec to something else before i burn this movie to a dvd or will my stand alone player read it?

What is the format of the movie (e.g. AVI, mpeg, video_ts folder)?

I must not be as smart as i thought as i was because i'm not for sure. The info file does not tell me the format. The file type is an image file. Also alcohol does not recognize it. I apologize about making this more difficult than it has to be!!

BhLr,

Go into Windows Explorer, and look at the filetype of the movie you are trying to burn. In most cases it will be only 3 characters, like rar, AVI, mpg, etc....

The movie came from the internet; it was a RAR file, but now it is an image file. I still have the rar files; this came from windows explorer and the properties of the file. I appreciate the help!!

hi

from what i can see i would say Nero would burn it! as all i can see is the title of the file, you dont have see file extensions turned on...

but it looks like a Nero icon, try just clicking it and see what loads!

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

Looks like an iso. If Nero cannot burn it, try change the extension to .iso, and/or use IsoBuster to extract the contents to harddisk, and burn from there.

Good luck!

@ Rotary,

Been a while. Nice to have you back!

I can't use nero cuz when i double click the icon it loads nero burnig rom and then says "Program Not Responding" [it has been doing that for awhile] but i'm in the middle of getting that worked out!! I burnt the disc using Alcohol but the movie ended up being PAL [IFOedit didn't give me any info about that before i burnt]!!! So i used DivxToDVD to convert then i reburnt and now its working on all my of my standalone players. Thank for the help everyone!!!
