DVD Burner Burning Too Fast!

Hey, I'm new to the whole DVD burning thing. I got a LiteOn DVD Burner (model SOHW-16935) a couple days ago. Every time I try to burn an iso or a Video_ts, I set it to 1x or 2x, then it says it's burning at 6x and finishes in about 10 minutes.. These are 4gb images.. Then the resulting DVD plays horribly choppy. I've tried everything I can think of and wasted a few DVDs in the process. The DVD Burner is set to Master. Any ideas? :|
EDIT: By the way, I'm using DVD Decrypter for burning.

corned--I think it is the disks--which by the way should be very good quality--I have used them myself--Just that they will not let you burn slower than 6x--Download DVD Identifier right at this site under the Software tab--good free program and will show you that those disks have to be burned at 6X or higher--Try booktyping them when you burn with Decrypter--they will play in more stand alomnes then--Good luck

Wow, I didn't think the discs would be a problem.. Bleh.. Thanks.

corned--The media is fine--just go to the Lite-On website and make sure your firmware is up to date--then go to the booktyping utility and set all burns to be booktyped--they will then play in almost any player without a problem--have to burn those disks at 6X minimum I think--Here is your link--take your time and update the firmware, then set the recorder to burn all + media as a SDVD-ROM

Well, I tried setting booktyping in DVD Decrypter under the Lite-On Tab to DVD-Rom, but that's what it was already set to.. It doesn't seem any different, and on the right side of DVD Decrypter (where the info is) it says that the current booktyping is DVD+R! I guess I don't understand..

Well.. I tried burning again with those settings.. Burned at 6x.. The chapters are intact, and the audio is synchronized nicely.. The quality seems right, but it's still jumpy/skippy.

OK--We are getting closer--Now, if you get the booktyping set, it should give you better playability--Your right, it can be set in Decrypter before each burn--make sure you have nothing running in the background--nothing, no anti-virus or anything--I would prefer you set the booktyping at the Lite-On website, but DVD Decrypter can do the same thing--right before the actual burn--In Decrypter go to Tools/Drive/Change Booktype/pick Lite-On--choose Next Write--DVD-Rom--Click OK--then burn at 4 or 6x--check that it results in a DVD Rom--Free software called DVD Identifier right here--download and check the disk after writing--should say DVD Rom--Good luck--let us know

In decrypter, when changing booktype you select the media that you are using...DVD+R and then select what you want to change it to...DVD-ROM then click the change button and you will get a message popup saying successful. That is all there is to it.
Flashing the firmware is easy. Download it to your desktop and double click on it.
I do it anytime there is an upgrade for mine. This will make your burner recognize newer media types and enable burn speeds to be regulated properly. I would do it.

I concur with all suggestions posted above. Keep the firmware current and booktype all DVD+R media to dvd-rom. I too recommend the liteon booktype utility although dvdd should work too.

i've the exact same drive as yourself, and mine would'nt burn slower than 6x either
if you set Decrypter to burn at 1x it fools the drive and it should burn at 4x
so far as booktypeing to -rom, again go into Decrypter and when you drop down the change booktype, select the one highlighted below, then ok
your drive will then be EEPROM, and every +r you burn from then on will automaticly be changed to -rom
