The Verbatims(MCC) are probably a little better quality than the Office Depot( 8x Ritek) media. But the Office Depot discs aren't on sale any more are they?
Those 8x OD/Ritek are very respectable media. I would go with the Best Buy Sony DVD+R(made in Japan) in this weeks ad for $14.99 for a 50 pack. Those are Taiyo Yuden and probably hands down the best out there.
Anybody else having any issues with the Office Depot +16x coded Ricohjpn-r03 discs?
I bought 2 spindles last week. The first spindle burned 50 for 50,so that's the norm in all 3 of my benqs at 4x and 8x speed.
I busted into the second spindle last night and about 15% of the burn I got a burn error on my older benq 1620.Approximately a quarter inch got burned.Using my usual rip with DVD Shrink and burn with Nero 6.0.0.21b. Now this is the second burn error this year, and that's about 2000 burns and 400 or so on the fly!
I then tried another disc in my very reliable 598 Mhz celeron along with another benq 1620. This pc performs at 100% success rate. Not a single coaster this year. I got a burn error in the same area as my previous burn! WTF! I tried another, and another burn error.
3 burn errors in 1 hour and on 2 different pcs?
I then looked at the dye side of the disc and low and behold,a blemish. It looked like a dried up water spot in between the dye and bottom acrylic outside layer-about a quarter of an inch from the inner hub. I found 3 more after that after I looked at the rest of the spindle. Just a bad portion of a batch! They seem to be ok now.
I was just wandering if anyone else has any issues with those +16x OD ricohs?
I do love the +8x OD ritek R03s. I just picked up 150 of them friday.
$37 for 150.
dpzrgp15: If those sony are the dash 8x speed, then they'll code as Sony08D1. Pretty good media, but this exact MID code is on the same japanese and taiwanese spindles. I had no issues with the dash 8x sony, made in japan 08D1s,other than the compatability issues on some of my stand alones. Plus format for me from now on.
If they are 16x, I haven't got a clue!
