xbox...there are hundreds of things you can do with an xbox and it has been streamlined and can now be done very easily. PS2 on the other hand is very difficult to mod and there is very little to do with it once it has been modded

Dont bother getting a mod-chip if all you plan on doing is playing back-up games ...emulators...dvds....movies and such....just soft-mod it ...and there is'nt a best hard drive just the size that is right for you....also you have been lied to ...impossible to play ps2+gamecube on xbox although you can play nes,snes,genesis,gba,n64 and many others...

Not true. What the XBOX can emulate is the PS1 and pretty much any system before it but it's not the chip that does it, it's an emulator. You can softmod your box and install emulators and have the same capability.

XBOX is the better system to mod. If you want to get a chip, Xecuter 3 is the best, hands down. TRUST ME. If it's too expensive, there are alternatives. But the advice given was correct, if you want to play backups...save your money and do a softmod. More efficient for that need.

I feel that I had the opurtunity to learn alot modding a ps2 . This is not a vote for ps2 being the best, Im just saying it is good learning experince. And it was my first system I modded . I did get bored with it quickly. Thats what pushed me to take a crack at a xbox.I never thought of owning a xbox till modding a ps2. I have had a great time modding and remodding my xbox. There are by far many more things you can do with the xbox. I have bairly skimmed the inventory at xbins. But plan on trying as much as I can. Thanks guys!

Elliot: Hey, do you, uh, think I could come back some time and play with your Xbox?
Karen: Anytime, kid.
Elliot: Bye.
Karen: Oh! Well, would you look at that? This game is called an Xbox. Well. Ha ha ha...

softmodding^^^

http://www.techfreaks.org/articles/modxbox2.shtml
adding larger hard drive^^^

you can softmod any xbox....

when you buy a hard drive to go with it just make sure the hard drive is lockable

http://xboxdrives.x-pec.com/

website that lists lockable hard drives

The only con i would haev to say for softmoddign versus modding with a chip is softmodding can really screw up an xbox for many first timers and once their screwed up they ususally involove a modchipto get back. So why waste ur money on to things. When you can buy a 15$ chip from www.divineo.com, solder it in and go to town.
@marble (or should I say MARBLE!) you dont use a chip for softmodding you use exploits in the system and the games to make xbox do something it wasnt inteneded for. btw caps lock is located below the tab key.

yea people do mess up there systems a lot but thats becuz they rush into things and dont read how to do it right.if u softmod make sure your reading as many tut's as u can to make sure u do it right the first time.i mean softmodding is not hard in short all u do is put save game files onto your xbox and put in the game that the saves require very simple.and with the new krayzie/ndure 2.0 softmod u can even play on xbl with it which is great.

well both systems are nice as i have 2 PS2's and an Xbox
My V7 PS2 uses Swap Magic and a fliptop, cheaper way to go but it gets old having to swap discs and patch or rebuild games to work with Swap Magic.
Then there is my V12 with DMS4 Pro chip, which i just love. No muss no fuss. Just stick in your back up and go.
but since i have had my Xbox, which is not real long just a few months, i have found that it seems to be much more versitile.
You just seem to have a lot more you can do with that system then you can with the PS2
You can play games off the HDD with no compatitbility issues that
i have found, listen to internet radio while you work on your PC,
and a bunch of other things that i just have not learned yet.
copying games for Xbox is a bit more complicated with the Xbox than
it is with the PS2 for sure. But all around i think i like it better
than i do the PS2.
