Suspended due to non-functional email address

I have a Compaq Presario and a Dell 2400 and both of them have trouble in recognizing the disc in the CD or DVD drives.
They keep asking me to insert a disc in the drive when a brand new one has already been inserted.
As it happens on 2 machines, it seems obvious that I am the problem.
Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

You may possible need firmware updates. Check here:

Do a search and punch in the model of your drive and it will tell you the latest firmware.
