I am backing up dvds, and sometimes they run perfect. I dont even notice they are backups. Thats great, fine by me. Sometimes i notice they are a little less in quality, or stutter once or twice through the film. Again, fine by me. But sometimes it wont run on my xbox, but it will run on my computer, inconvinence yeah, not too concerned tho, if my friends dont wanna join me in my room well thats their fault. Sometimes though i even have problems with them playing through with out errors, they will jus freeze up in the middle of the movie. not really acceptable. And the thing is that shows up as a 'burn completed succesfully' and i dont know know if that problem has happend or not. And I dont really wanna do it all over again. I use DVD Decrypter, and dvd shrink. would buying a better dvd Player have anything to do with the xbox having problems sometimes? And any other suggestions would be appriciated.

If you are mostly concerned with playing the backups in your xbox, try booktyping some +R's to DVD-Rom. Slow your burn speed down to 4X, use quality media (verbatim, taiyo yuden, sony, fuji, and maxell made in Japan), set target size to 4300, and finally try using the quality settings in DVD Shrink.

Eck! Memorex's - yep they suck. Stay away from them. Follow LOCOENG advice. Sure you can pick up ones w/ slower rated burns speeds or you can just change the burn speed in shrink to 4x.

Now on this line of thinking, On those dvds that have problems, either playing correctly, or just in the xbox or w/e could i use DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink on it to remake a copy to hopefully get it to play correctly on the next copy?

Probably but it depends on how bad the disc has degraded. I had a memorsux almost uncopyable about a month later.
Decrypter imo is best for discs like this. Since their already compressed you can just rip in iso and burn iso w/ decrypter.
