Went to Best Buy to get a cake box of 50 Sony DVDs for $14.99. I could only find Made in Taiwan -R discs, so I was walking out. But then I saw another display of them, so for kicks I checked the labels. They were the same label of Sony -R but made in Japan. So I bought those instead. I've read here that Made in Japan are better than Taiwans, but was surprised to see the same product that way. Anybody have any ideas? Did I make a good purchase?

The -R media has 50dmr47ls3 on the label.

They'll sell both of those together. When I buy Sony I always have to look for the MIJs, they aren't separated. I don't think it costs them anymore so they don't put a distiction on them. I think if you searched that other display you would have found some MIJs (made in Japan). This also applies with Fuji.

And for future reference Sony MIJs are made by TY, so in the future if there aren't any Sony sales and you're desperate just buy them from Taiyo Yuden. You usually don't find TY in stores though so you might have to buy them online.
