Hi Everyone!
I have a small problem that i hope u guys can help with. There's this certain movie that i want to burn onto DVD. it's currently an ISO image, and when i burn it onto a dvd using Nero 7.0, everything's fine except there's no sound. could anyone explain why there's no audio and how to fix it? THANKS I APPRECIATE UR TIME!

When you made the ISO did you have the AC3 5.1 audio stream selected?

If there's no audio then it's most likely because it was left out by whoever originally created the ISO.
You could try mounting the image as a virtual drive with something like Daemon Tools and playing it in your PC's video player software to be sure.

Looking back at the situation, zippyd probably has the best idea, play it and see if the sound is there in the original. Either it is or isn't. If there you just made a mistake with the recording. Which Nero app were you using?

Hi Guys, thanks for all the posts. I used Daemon Tools to mount the image then used VLC player to play the file. Everything worked fine, but when i used Windows Media Player, the sound doesn't work. The same thing happened when i burned the image onto a DVD using Nero 7 Ultra Edition, which again the sound didn't work. So...the audio was on the image, it just doesn't show up unless played using VLC player...your help would be very much appreciated! THANKS! (i'm trying to burn the movie onto DVD so that my family can see it on the bigscreen =) )

It's starting to sound as though you have a problem with the source you're working with. VLC is one of those play anything apps and to play DVD on a standalone takes the DVD format and structure. Will the movie play on a regular DVD player app such as PowerDVD? Download a trial and give that a whirl. I suspect you may have the same problem as the windows player. You need to answer a couple of questions for us, where did this movie file come from? Is it an ISO created from a DVD or is it something you downloaded?

I've not used ISOBuster, but would it help in this situation to extract the files and see what's actually in the image?
The only reason I can think of that it would play in one player and not another is maybe format or an omitted AUDIO_TS.

You're clicking on all cylinders zippyd. I'm wondering if this couldn't be an ISO of an AVI file or something of the sort that's been improperly converted. At present this video is still a mystery. I asked where it came from and how the source was originally acquired and the info hasn't been supplied to us yet.
As we know, for most standalone players to work properly, they have to have the standard DVD structure. VOB, BUP, and IFO files in a VIDEO_TS folder and all the files in the correct structure. With an ISO the WinRAR archive app can be used to open it up to see what's there. It could be an improperly assembled folder that someone has compiled. I have some actual DVDs I've burned that won't play on a standalone, but they'll play on my PC software. They were faulty burns from a burner on it's way out. They'll play great on a PC, but the standalone reads them as NO DISC PRESENT. So this could be anything unless we're given more specific info.
For now, there's no need to continue speculation till we hear from tydawg.

hey guys! yea sorry i actually found this movie online. it's a chinese movie of which the origins i do not know. other than that, i've also tried to play the movie on PowerDVD and also my playstation 2. both of which work, all except for the sound file. i hope this will help you guys help me. haha. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME! 'really appreciate it.

Since you have sound with VLC and not the other players, that shows there is sound, but the structure of the ISO is wrong to play as a DVD. There is a simple solution that sometimes works. No guarantee, but it's easy and no cost, except for time. With the ISO loaded in Daemon, try opening the file and transcoding it with DVD Shrink. Shrink incorporates a feature of correcting minor structural errors. So, it may or may not work. Select File and Open Disc Image (not Disc). 
If the simple fix doesn't take care of the problem, you may have to record the sound using the VLC player and insert it using an editing app, unless someone comes up with an easier fix. Though you may be a newbie here on this forum, you've presented a more advanced problem.
Normally video files are downloaded as AVI files and then converted to DVD format and then burned. As you well know, somewhere along the line, this process has been corrupted.
