Ok, this is not meant to be a final showdown of the 2 media in terms of quality. I just got some interesting graph scans of the 2 medias which I burned with my Pioneer DVR-A09XLB drive. I thought it's interesting and I have a question to ask the experts later. First, the graphs...please note that all my burns are currently done at 4x burn speed.

Verbatim 8x DVD+R (MCC003)

[Bold]Fujifilm 8x DVD+R (YUDEN000T02)

Now here's the question for the experts. As you can see, the Verbatim burn has a higher PIF error count than TY. But TY has a very high PIE error count when compared to the Verbatim burn. Although I got to agree that both are very good quality discs judging from the scans, but I am currently trying to make my decision on what to use as my main choice of discs.

So what do the experts here think? Which kind of errors constitutes to a higher chance of disc degradation, PIE or PIF?

Thank you everyone for your kind help thus far...

Both are very acceptable scans .. Nero seems to place more value on low PI failure rates as opposed to low PI error rates

I also would believe that an error is not nearly as critical as a failure .. However, the MCC only has a failure rate of 8.7 times that of the Yuden ... While the Yuden has an error rate that is 198 times that of the MCC

I have found that if I use compressed air and clean the discs (yes, I realize that they are new and supposedly very clean) that my PI failures are reduced at least 50% ... go figure

BTW .. excellent burner that you're scanning with .. I'll bet that you will get better results with the BenQ writing at 8x than you get with the Pioneer writing at 4x

With my BenQ, I ALWAYS write at maximum speed and genjoy excellent results (of course I never use garbage discs) .. The BenQ seems to favor the Fuji/Yudens, while my set top LiteOns seem to like the MCC/Verbs and Ritek/Maxells more

?As far as how well the two discs will archive .. given equal storage and handling, welllll, let's just say that they shouls outlast me
