The ps2 should just play them without a mod chip or swap magic, just put it in and it should play.

Then either your ps2 cant read the blank dvdr discs your using, or you made your dvd wrong.

well that may be the case cuz i know my little brother's ps2 cant read dvds period, i mean not even dvd ps2 games anymore, he can't play anything but cds and ps1 games, it's weird.
anyways, 1. my dvds aren't blank it has a dvd movie on it, and 2. i burn them just like i burn cds, is that the wrong way?

lol..He meant blank, as in, that is what you burned your DVD to. Now when you say you burn them the same way you do CD's, can you be a little more descriptive (Program, speed, etc)?

Have you tried playing DVD+R's in your PS2 before? What program did you use to burn it and at what speed?

I have a Sony 16x Internal Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive and I've always burned my games with Nero 7 Ultra Edition for Windows b/c I got this for $25 when I bought my burner and it's a regular $100 program and it works like a dream and I've never had any problem with and of my games i've burned or cds but this is the 1st time i've had trouble with a movie b/c i've never tried to play one in a ps2.
oh and i burned the movie just like i do games, at 8x.

trust me buddy there is no way it's the discs all 22 of my burned games are on the same sony discs and NEVER has one skipped, not played, messed up loading, anything, they run perfect.
as for verbatim i've had 2 games on verbatim that wouldn't run so i put em on sony and they ran so there's no way it's the disc, cuz they read fine.

Have you tried playing your burnt movies in any other dvd player? That will tell you if its your movie or your ps2.

your PS2 when playing games reads the data to the processor and then the processor stores it to memory and runs it, it has the ability to pull the data from the disk as need be and on inferior media, and believe me Sony disks are inferior, it's taking longer to pull the data but your getting by with just slower loads then if you had a quality media. you may not know the difference but your laser does.
when your trying to pull DVD movies your 'streaming' the feed directly from the disk to the processor and it's never stored as an executable application, on the inferior disks it simply skips over what it cant load in a timely manner. your games can take the time to read the disk area multiple times to get the needed data off, video can't.
your having good luck with your games on the disks so far doesn't make them 'good' disks.
your at a loss and ask for suggestions, why not try those suggestions before ruling anything out becaues it's obvious that these disks are not being read fine 'cuz', as you put it.

Wrong, KC, it's whatever works with your burner best that makes it a "good disc." If your burner hates Verbatims/Taiyo Yudens but churns out consistently good burns with Sonys, then that makes that particular Sony media good for you... while the Verbs and TYs would be "bad." Ultimately, so-called "good" and "bad" media vary on a case-to-case basis, though we generally like to infer and draw stereotypes about quality from the sum of people's experiences with a certain media.
That said, true Sony DVDs are generally considered very good. Don't believe me? Then check out the oft-referenced page on DVD media at digitalfaq ( http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm ). This doesn't mean that Sonys will work superbly for *everyone* (even Verbatims and Taiyos fail on certain people's burners), but the fact that they're considered top-tier media is pretty high praise. Fake Sony media (and I've tried some firsthand), though, is extremely poor.
Anyway, everyone's already given all the good advice out. You can try burning at lower speeds (like 4x), you can try your movie on other players (even your computer DVD drive), whatever. The bottom line is that the PS2 reads and plays DVD movie backups straight up without any need for modification.

thanks pretense i'll see what it does burning at 4x and it does work on my pc dvd drive because i run it first on my pc to make sure it burned right, but i'll have to try it in my dvd player, lol that's one thing i haven't tried to play it in, but my dvd player is one of the older ones and i know the older ones don't even support burned cds so i dunno i'll have to try.
also if it is my ps2 is there anything i can do to make them work?
thanks
