You are running a really old NEro, current is 6.6.0.18. I don't see your firmware on the rpc site, but it looks like the newest is 1S33, here is the link to it:

You are writing too close to the edge, write no further than 4300MB. To do this:

In Shrink go to edt>Preferences>under first tab>in box scroll down until you get to custom>in box besides that type in 4300.

Yet another Ritek failure, after you've read my entire post and tried everything else I've told you to do and it still isn't working, got get better media. I say try Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. SOny and Fuji are fine so long as they are made in japan. And when you do try again, either with Ritek or new brand, try burning at 4x.

This is Roxio which conflicts with Nero, get rid of it completly via Roxiozapper. YOu can google roxiozapper. It's a real small file.

Thanks GlueEater.I did everything you said to do.I will try to burn again tomorrow.

I use the Ritek media only because it plays the best on my dvd player. I believe the Roxio was the big problem because everything worked ok until i put roxio on.Ive tried the brand name media alot of times but for somereason the movies seem to skip alot.

Anyway,thanks again for the help

Ritek media set your target to 4100

4100 seems a little unecessary. It'll put too much extra compression on your backup. I say 4300 is fine.

A 4300 target size keeps you about 1mm from the edge of the disc where dye coverage is spotty on cheaper media. A 4100 target would probably keep you about 3mm from the edge, and you will have to compress the movie even more than the 4300 target, also loosing more picture quality (because you are compressing the movie more). For good media, i use 4400 as a target size, but that's just me.
A 4100 target is probably overkill.

So your saying that the target size could have caused the skipping in the movie?

Thanks for the help everyone.I have 3 to backup tonight so ill let you know

Most certainly. Burning to the edges will cause issues as on certains brands of discs the dye spread is uneven closest to the edges and therefor you will not get a quality burn of the dye.

By keeping inside a little you stay in the even dye spread. Burn speed can also effect the quality of a burn, that is why most at this forum recommend burning at 4x. Once you become familiar with the process and the types of media to use to consistantly get superior burns you may want to increase your burn speed.

I still burn at either 4 or 6x depending on my mood and the media I am using.
