I have run in to a couple of bad presses. (original DVD movies are pressed, not burned). I had the Matrix Revolutions that was a scratch free, brand new disc, and i kept getting CRC errors at the same spot. I thought it might be some kind of copy protection, but it was a bad press. Took the movie back and exchanged it for another one, and no errors at all on the new one. Made a backup with no problems. This is a new movie, so you shouldn't be seeing scratches on the disc. Try exchanging it for a new one.

What kind of media are you using and how fast are you burning it. Don't put paper labels on your DVD's. This causes freezes in some players.

Thanks anyway. I will try and back them up tonight and post my results in morning. I have Shrinks and DVDFAB right now. So I should be able to do it. My Free AnyDVD time ran out and to cheap till after X-Mas to shell out the cash for it. :)

I recently got 40 year old virgin. When I attempted to create a backup of the original, I realized that my new AnyDVD 5.7.3.1. didn't work coupled with dvdShrink!! Ahhh the humanity!!

I tried DVDFab as well, and that software didn't work as well. The only recourse I had left was CloneDVD3. And let me tell you, it succesfully backed up a copy, but the backup itself was horrendous to say the least.

First off, I know it isn't because the original is a bad press, because I tried it on Serenity as well and in both instances it gave me the same result. Wow, the final backup for both movies sucks of lycanthropic booty.

First, the subtitles in both movies, work at times, and at others, they simply disappear. To make it worse, 40 year old virgin, the screen goes black on you at some point!! The DVD's I am using are Memorex, and the burner is a Sony dual layer 2x and single layer 16x. I burned both at 16x speed.

I strongly suspect, that it is CloneDVD3 making the horrible backups.

Anyone has an opinion on this matter?

@hot_ice

I backed uo that dvd with my AnyDVD v5.6.3.1 with dvdfabdecrypter.Then encoded with shrink and burnt with Imgburn.No problem at all but your problrm is not the encryption.You are using crap media.You should go for verbatim or taiyo yuden.Check this thread and it will give you an idea of the media you are using. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/232406 .And the other thing you are doing wrong is burning at 16x when you should be doin it at 4x the most.I did all mine at that speed, no problem at all.At last please go on to this link http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/232406 and read a good point of view on burning at that speed.Read what alkohol wrote.It is a good point o view. :-)

I Agree. I have dvdcloner 3 and it is rubbish, freezes up and skips audio at the end of each chapter. Dont buy it, Fab and shrink are far superior.

I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out

The worst part is, DVD Cloner is rated as good software by reputable sites.

I don't think they've actually used it lol
