Hi,
Thanks to the great advice I've received here I've stopped using stick on labels. I've been considering buying the Epson R200 or R300, But I can't find Inkjet Printable DVD+R media.
I like using +R media so I can Booktype it to DVD Rom. I recently bought some T Yuden from Rima.com .
Here's what it says: Silver Lacquer (Shiny Silver)
Media ID : YUDEN000T02
Features : Thermal printable surface for CD/DVD thermal printers, but not recommended for Rimage Everest Printer
Sorry for the newbie questions, but what is a Thermal Printable Surface. Is there any +R media out there that I can inkjet ink on ??
Thanks......

Ink jet printable discs in the +R format is available, I am currently using Verbatim +Rs with much success. Lightscribe or thermal discs CANNOT be used as the image is BURNED onto them whereas Ink jet are printed. You can get excellent FREE covers from http://www.cdcovers.cc

Some burners, like the HP, have a lightscribe system, or similar, that will use the burner's laser to print on the surface of the disc. Those flip over so the top is facing the laser. Only discs compatible with the system will work though. Most of the online vendors, like Meritline, carry inkjet printable media, so shop around.

I have a R300 Epson printer and use the memorex labels. And I stick it on the disc and use the printers ablity to print directly to the disc, also the Verbatim DVD-DL I got from SuperMedia.com works great.

The point was he was wanting to get away from labels. I got away from labels for various reasons. If you have an extensive library, the labels and ink costs can get high. Then there's the problems with longevity, and if the label is slightly off, it can affect balance. I just label the disc with a marker. If I want artwork, I'll print a label for the case. That's cheaper than stick-on labels as well.

@PirateDan, I'm afraid you have lost me with your post, you have a printer capable of printing directly onto blank discs then why would you use memorex lables ? It seems to defeat the purpose of having printable discs.

Thanks Guys,
I saw the inkjet printables at Meritline.
One more quick question which printer would you recommend The Epson R200, R220, or R300. I currently have the Epson stylus all in one CX4600 and would probably just use the new printer for printing on disks.
Thanks Again ........

One of our Senior Members, Gringle has just purchased the R300, I am certain that he would have done some research before deciding. See the last post in thread Is Lightscribe worth it. Cheers

I have the Epson R200 myself and I use the Verbatim Matte White Inkjet printables. They work fantastic and look the best if you are doing movie DVDs where your printed surface will be in full color. For the darker, more black and white stuff, I recommend using the Verbatim Silver Matte discs... they look really amazing when they come out.

Quote: One more quick question which printer would you recommend The Epson R200, R220, or R300
R-200: I love mine. The disc prints are pretty good.Darker prints look a lot better than the lighter ones.It doesn't have the fancier bells and whistles like the 300 series.
R-220: This is replacing the r-200 and is about the same printer
R-300: Same specs as the r-200,but has a card reader and a view screen.
R-320: Same as r-300,probably replacing the r-300 model, has a fancier view screen along with a card reader.
R-340: Newer printers, just coming out so I don't know much about them.I imagine it is replacing the R-300 and R-320?
BTW: Staples has the R-320 on sale, saturday is the final day.It has an after rebate price of $129.98. I bought my dad an R-200 a month ago for $50 after rebate.
This way I can buy our ink at a better discount through private.abacus. You can get a set of 6 quality ink cartridges for under $20. I just got my shipment today for 3 sets for $55 including shipping! Here's the link for that site.My full size case covers look better than the original ones with this ink:

I'm going to order some full hub dash, shiny inkjet printables. I can't find these in the plus format.Look at alkyhol's sig,he has some sweet looking shiny inkjet printable pics.

The Epson R340 is indeed one of Epson's newest inkjet printers. Priced at $219.96 ($199.96 after mail-in rebate), is it essentially what the R200 is and what the R300 should have been. It has the 6 individual ink tanks as we have come to expect out of the "R" series printers but it comes with a quicker print speed and a full color view screen with the ability to not only print a picture via PictBridge or a memory card, but also to take a picture from a memory card that you are seeing on the viewscreen... and print it onto an inkjet printable CD/DVD at the press of a button and, of course, the ability to print from the computer onto inkjet printable CD/DVDs. While it uses the same inks as the other "R" series units, you have the option of buying the DuraBrite Ultra ink that is supposed to increase the quality and longevity of the picture, but I have yet to notice a big difference. Phenomenal results are found with this printer, and I expect the price to drop slightly after the new year to probably $199.96 as a standard price. Comes with full ink tanks, which is always a bonus.
Yep... I love my Epson (fun to sell to customers too! I always do live demos)!
