I use nero to burn data dvdrs.

I've been using a single dvdr and slowly adding documents to it one by one.

This last time I totally screwed up and told it to "replace exisiting files" when burning the multisession.

Now just the last file I burned shows up when I insert the disk.

Is there any way to get the old stuff back? I mean it has to be on there doesnt it?

i'm unsure if you can get it back as you over wrote the existing data with the new stuff.

Try using isobuster and see what infomation you can actually recover with this program.

it could possibly be, when you open IsoBuster you should select one of the previous sessions and see whether its in there, because when doing a multisession it is impossible to delete data off of a DVD-R but what happens when you replace the files is that the data that was originally there is in a way hidden

at least i think this is how it works, please correct me if i'm rong...

I got the demo of that isobuster program, and sure enough, it brings up all the sessions which has all the old stuff.

I figured there had to be some way of getting it back, because its a dvdr not a dvdrw, theres no way it could have written over the old stuff, even though it says its replacing it.

Thanks for your help!

Also, I wonder why Nero has it set default to "replace existing files" when you go to add something to a multisession dvdr. I wouldnt think people would actually want to do that much.

its more of an aspect like using briefcase with a thumb drive, its so that if you continually work with files you can easily update, the best thing to do is when you open burning ROM and select multisession, make sure you deselect the replace files checkbox, cause this is what does it...

PS: glad i could help with IsoBuster, the good thing about it is that it allows you to use a free version instead of registering...
