They are all going through fine on Shrink and even decrypter. EXCEPT for episode 11?! shrink freezes up and Decrypter stops and says CSS encryption error? I thought decrypter was supposed to take away CSS. Also DVDFab freezes up when it comes to episode 11 as well.

The disc is beautiful and not scratched at all..can someone help PLEASE!!

The error CSS error that you get with DVDD should prompt you to remove the CSS. Make sure that you have the Brute Force->I/O Key exchange ticked in the CSS tab in options.

So do you want me to talk to as if you're not retarded or do you want me to simplify my answer and provide images for you to follow? I'm happy to help as much as I can, but I can't assume that the title Newbie besides your name means you are PC illiterate or a Tech guru.

Just simplifing would be great :) thanks!

ok I found the Brute force you mentioned under the settings tab and I reran decrypter. It didnt help it stopped at 50% and here is the error message

I/O Error!
Device [1:1:0] HP DVD Writer 630c Ch16 (E:) (ATA)
ScsiStatus: 0x02
Interpretation: Check Condition

CDB: 28 00 00 1F 9B 10 00 00 20 00
Interpretation: Read (10) - Sectors 2071312 - 2071343

Sense Area 70 00 03 00 00 00 00 12 00 00 00 00 11 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 02 03 04 05

Interpretation: Unrecovered Read Error

Also a "cracking css..." window comes up over decrypter if I want to "try again" "abort" or "cancel" trying again does nothing

And this comes up after TRY AGAIN. No decryption key has been found for VTS 06_1. VOB (which is episode 11)

and just so you know my DVD writer works great and has no problems with any other discs.

I/O error ; check condition.

Make sure that the disc is not dirty or scratched.

If there is a key for any of the VOB's before VTS 6_` , you can try to copy that key to work for this file. The place to manually enter the key in the options area directly under the place that you checked for your Brute Force setting.

I see what you mean about entering the key below brute force, but where do I find this key? I dont know what you mean by VOB's before VTS 6_

Thanks for helping me by the way

Okay, have you tried to rip this one with DVD Shrink? What mode are you ripping the disc in, File mode or ISO read mode?

Yes I have with Shrink. All 6 of the discs work including 3 of the 4 episodes on the problem disc. Its just this one episode and the disc is brand new.

I would assume its ISO Read because they all save as 24.ISO or STEALTH.ISO...etc

Change your mode to File mode, then go to edit and select all. See if this will rip the disc to your HDD. When it is complete you can open DVD Shrink, go to open files and select the 24 VIDEO_TS folder.

I shouldn't even have said anything about the keys, because I've only read about this method and have never personally tried it, so I wouldn't be very good at walking you through it. But if you have a log you can post from DVDD I'll take a look at it, it you want.

I only have two suggestion left.

1. Try to rip to HDD with DVDFab Decrypter. It is a free prog, and can be found here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvdf...
This program works much in the same way the DVD Decrypter works when using file mode. Select your target, wait, and open VIDEO_TS folder in DVD Shrink.

2. Try to rip to HDD using DVD43 running behind DVD Shrink. It too is a free prog and can be found here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd43.cfm
This prog works much like AnyDVD. Simply insert DVD into drive wait for the little smiley face to turn to a devil and back again. Open disc in DVD Shrink and copy protection will be stripped.

well thanks anyways.. I tried them both and nothing. I even went to blockbuster and rented a different disc, same damn problem. This has got to be a first. You think there is some way they have a new protection on the disc (one episode) that none of the programs are familiar with yet? Yeah its a stretch but something has to give...

Sorry I wasn't able to help...by the way if you tried the DVD43 method, may try the AnyDVD method, it has a 21 day free trial. Note: you will have to remove DVD43 from you system.

I think that you just got unlucky a couple of times. I had no problem ripping season 4 of 24 by using shrink & Nero 6. In the past I have had similar problems with other movies and gotten 3 or 4 before I could get a good one that would burn. It doesn't take much and sometimes you can't see it. I'd try a another source for disc 3 and try another rip.

If you want to create the PSL files for Decrypter to break the encryption, and then import them in, then here are to guides on how to do this. Have not tried it myself, since I have not found a movie that can't be done using AnyDVD, DVD Decrypter with VobBlanker, or DVD Fab Decrypter.
