I am so confused right now. I got my 40GB Seagate Hard Drive for Ps2 and a Network Adapter today.

I am missing one big key though and that is HD Loader or HD Advance??

Which one should i get? I have a Flip Topped PS2 SCPH-39001 and I have CD Loader.

How do I use my HDD?? Plz get back to me.

If you have URLS that can help plz send thanks.

Well, first things first, what kind of mod do you have (modchip or swap magic)?

i use HD Advance. No reason that over HD loader except that was the more common one on eBay. If you can find HD Advance v3, i would recommend that because it supports DVD-DL games. It uses a program called HD Dump and either connecting your PS2 to you comp via LAN or by installing the HD Advance v3 formated HDD on you comp and useing HD Dump.

I may be wrong, but as far as i know, HD Loader does not support DVD-DL.

both in their latest versions are the same software only difference is the skin (on screen look). if you have a modchip or swap magic just do a memory card exploit to launch via a PS1 trigger disk and you will be up and running in less then an hour and you wont have to buy anything else.

EDIT: just to add, WinHIIP is a far superior way to transfer ISO's to the HDD using your PC. also you can do a little research and allot of games can be downsized to save space on your HDD (being it's only a 40G) by removing the dummy files or resizing the false LBA

HDLoader does support DVD-9 games, the thing is, it can't install the 2nd layer of the DVD-9 disc, so you have to install it through WinHIIP.

Well...

I have a Playstation 2 SCPH-39001 that is Flip Topped and I use Swap Magic Discs 2.0 DVD & CD.

I have a Network Adapter and a Seagate 40GB Hard Drive...I ordered a HD Loader, but did I make the wrong choice??

Can someone explain to me how I could use WinHIIP??

Also is it possible to backup my Burned PS2 Games into the HDD? (I Own all of them)

Plz help...I can't seem to get my GoldenEye Rogue Agent disc to work...what should I do?

I tried the Swap Disc CD 2.0, CD Loader v7 Beta, Swap Disc DVD 2.0, and the DVD-R copy of my GoldenEye Rogue Agent.

I do own the game I am just wondering why it isn't working and what should i do?

with you having swap magic you could of just did the MC exploit with the fully patched version of HD Loader instead and that would of been my choice in your situation.

Can someone explain to me how I could use WinHIIP??

download and install it, you'll find it is pretty much self explanitory, you select the hdd (if it's not PS2 formatted you will have to do so) and then select the game ISOs and copy them to the drive, the best way to get the ISOs is to use DVD Decriptor's ISO read option.

Also is it possible to backup my Burned PS2 Games into the HDD? (I Own all of them)

yes. 95% or more games are supported on the HDD, a few are not.

Plz help...I can't seem to get my GoldenEye Rogue Agent disc to work...what should I do?

I tried the Swap Disc CD 2.0, CD Loader v7 Beta, Swap Disc DVD 2.0, and the DVD-R copy of my GoldenEye Rogue Agent.

use DVD Decryptor again to ISO read, then use ISO write using the MDS file on a quality DVD-R media and it will work.

What is the MC Exploit with fully patched version of HD Loader?

Where do I get it? Plz do tell.

How do I make my HDD for my Playstation 2 work with WinHIIP??

Can I do it without opening up my computer and attaching it??

Also is there a way to just connect it to my PS2 without removing the HDD and Network Adapter??

How do I get the game ISO'z on the drive??

Ok I opened up WinHIIP and I am still confused...sorry

More Questions Plz...

SO I pop in the Goldeneye Rogue Agent and use DVD Decrypter to Read Iso so it goes on my computer hard drive and then I write the iso with DVD Decrypter to a Ridata 4X DVD-R disc.

I did that exact thing. Also what does MDS mean?

a MC exploit is a program so to speak that you put on the memory card that is triggered by a particular PS1 game disk in the PS2s drive, this trigger boots an elf file from the memory card which can be HD Loader, fully patched means it has the latest TOC and will play dual layered games. you don't get it anywhere, you use programs to compile it and burn to disk which then self installs onto your memory card, do a search on google and you'll find tons of useful and useless information on it.

to use WinHIIP with your HDD you have to connect the HDD to your PCs IDE cable (this requires you to open it yes), WinHIIP will then allow you to select it and you can read/write to/from the drive.

you can network your PS2 via the network adapter to your PC but the speed and ease of transfer via the HDD connected to the IDE port on the PC is the optimal choice.

WinHIIP will write the ISOs to the HDD.

and the MDS file is what you get along with an ISO file when you do an ISO read via DVD Decryptor, always select the MDS file when you use the ISO write feature to burn the disk.

So, what's the point of a patched HD Loader? Do you need that with WinHIIP?

A patched version of HDLoader has a higher compatability with games. The MC exploit takes advantage of the PS1 boot sequence. MDS is like a CUE sheet, it contains the path of the ISO, how many sectors it has, the file size etc.

Try using your Swap Magic DVD 2.0 disc first, then your backup of GoldenEye.

I would go with the patched version of HDLoader.

Here's a link to get you started with the MC exploit:

Thanks for the help.

I got HD Loader and a "patched version", the "patched version" has HDL_OFFICAL.ELF and SYSTEM files on the image, whereas the real disc has a whole lot more. What do I do with each of these to make it patched before I burn?

Thanks

the only self patchers that are user friendly are for the .elf file versions for the memory card exploit, or at least i haven't found any ISO patching versions that aren't rocket science.

and unless you have a chip or swap magic you can't use a burnt copy. if you can use a burnt copy PM me and I'll direct you to where you may find it.

I have both HDloader and HDAdvance 2.0 and they work the same. I havne't found an advantage to either one currently. However, I was wondering if anyone knows how to use HDloader/advance and still use the network adapter to play online or LAN?

I've patched the DNAS but even before it authenticates, it freezes at the network config selection. Anyone know if there is a patch to fix this for HDloader?

Any help is greatly appreciated!
