Nope...if you choose to reauthor DVD in DVD Shrink, the only thing you will ever get is the main movie. You can do a Full Disc backup to retain your menues and insert still pictures for the special features.

You can keep the movie intact with its menu by using clonedvd2 the only software I can think of doing this perfectly.

Actually, there are other options, as well. And, the definition of "perfectly" or "the best" is subjective, so it may help to think through exactly what you hope to end up with as the end result.

It is correct that DVDShrink cannot retain any of the menus (as working menus) if you decide to go into Reauthor mode. It is not true (as mentioned above) that "the only thing you will ever get is the main movie." You can actually retain ALL of the various extras, coming attractions, bonus features, deleted scenes, documentaries, etc. However, once you enter Reauthor mode in DVDShrink, you lose the menus -- (or you can also decide to keep the menus but just have them appear as useless still images).

You did not state if you wish to use compression, or not. This is perhaps the $64,000 question.

You can use (as an example) VOBBlanker. Based on what you said, this should accomplish exactly what you wish. You can use it without DVDShrink, but you can also use it in conjunction with DVDShrink, should you feel the need to compress. This program gives you a very high degree of control in picking and choosing what to cut, and what to keep, and you can still keep any and all menus as working menus. I use this all of the time, and I always keep the menus.

Example of a simple procedure:
1) Rip the entire disc to hard drive using DVDShrink, with no compression, in full disc mode. Ignore the warning that it is too big.
2) Open VoBBlanker, and go in and pick and choose which extras to get rid of. Then, "Process" this, a procedure which takes very little time.
3) Burn the result.

There are also other options.

Perhaps you should reread my answer.

This is infact a true statement. When backing up in Reauthor mode the only part of the movie you'll get is the main movie, which is what AZadam asked. However if you backup your movie in full disc mode you can add still images to the parts that you don't want...Vobblanker is an advanced tool that not all users of this site will understand. Lets keep it simple, until the hard questions are asked. Everyone will be alot happier and alot less confused.

With all due respect, we must agree to disagree. Since one can keep the extras (when backing up in Reauthor mode), it is not a "true statement" and can certainly be a misleading one to those trying to learn.

No offense intended, however I do believe in accuracy, for those who may be less experienced, and just popping in to learn.

Take care,

@ ZippyD,

I looked @ http://www.dvdshrink.info/still_image.php

I am wondering if I can save a JPG that reads "This DVD belongs to ***" and place it before the movie start. If that is possible, I would like to know how to insert a customized jpg and have music playing in the background.

I'm sure there's a possible way, but just want to have it so that when people borrow my movies (with or without) my knowledge, they will know that it actually belongs to me.

The audio......... well I don't know what to tell you there. But it is possible to make a still image to maybe place in where the FBI title would normally be.
Here's a thread with a bit more info on the subject.....

Good luck with it....
