I changed the file format of a movie I downloaded to DVD, all of the VOB files and stuff like that were made and burned to a DVD with Nero. It plays on all my DVD players, but the picture is completely screwed. Its like the movie was moved up 1/2 the screen, so the bottom 1/2 is on the top, and below that its all black, not to mention that its all squished together so that everything that I can see is all skinny and tall. Can anyone please help me? I have been doing this project for over a week, and I finally thought that I finished, then I popped it in and theres a new problem, nothing seems to be able to just go right. I am using DVD+R 4.7 Gig disks because for some reason my DVD drive refuses to recognize blank DVD-R disks.

1) Do you still have the original movie that you downloaded, and if so, what is it's format (e.g. AVI, ,mpeg)?

2) Did you check when things went wrong (e.g. after encoding, after burning)?

3) Does it play o.k. on the pc?

1) Yes, the original file was in BIN/CUE format, then I changed it to AVI, then I changed it to DVD. The BIN/CUE and AVI files play fine on my computer, but it isnt made for computers so the quality is not the best, which is why I am trying to get it on to a DVD, but once I get past one problem, another one pops up.

2) Might of been after burning, but I don't know. I put the DVD disk that I burned inside my computer after seeing what it did on my players. The DVD file had the same problem on my computer that it did on my TV's

3) The AVI file does, but check number 2, I said what happens when I try to play the DVD file on the computer.

If the AVI plays well, and you're satisfied with its quality, maybe you can try first to encode the AVI with another program (e.g. VSO DivxToDVD), check the results, then burn to dvd with e.g. Nero:

Good luck!

Ya, it works now, thanks a lot, just one problem, there are blazing bright yellow words that advertise DivXtoDVD Trial Version in the top area of the movie. Its not on the movie, but you know how when you make it widescreen there is a black area on the top and bottom? Its in there, if there was some other software that did the same thing that DivXtoDVD does WITHOUT the big advertisement, it would be nice.

Did you accidentally download the commercial shareware version instead of the freeware version?
