I personally like these for PS2 and DVD backups. With the PS2, DVD-R's are good because some older PS2 systems will not play the DVD+R's.

do NOT buy fujifilm they are absolute junk, you can see lines all over all the DVD R's in the light and i had to burn at least 6 coasters untill i got a perfect burn, most of the time i got loads of blotches where the DVD R did not burn properly. dont buy these peices of junk! i am changing back to maxwell soon! maxwell are the real true A* media.

I've been using the FUJI 8X DVD+R "YUDEN000T02" (made in japan) and Maxell 8X DVD+R "MAXELL002" (made in japan - by Hitachi Corp.) for all of my PS2 games and so far they all plays flawlessly.

The chances of taiyo yuden in those 30 packs of fuji's are very high for newegg. There is also a chance of getting fujifilm-03 on the taiwanese spindles-dash format. Staples have these same packs for about $15 a pack. Last sale they had,they were $7.94 for the same 30 pack,multi-colored disc spindles. Now the fuji 25/50/and 100 pack spindles are another story.I haven't seen any tys in them.Just lots of issues with the non-tys.

Sony: Same,the japanese will be the better over the taiwanese. I see a lot of problems with ps2s playing sony backups. Very odd,sony drives not playing sony media. I also have a buddy that confirms this on his Nec 2510 drive.

Maxell: The chance of cmags in the taiwanese maxells are increased.Ritek and hitachi also make them.Those hitachi's are sweet.

TDK: I hear lots of problems with them.

That's why genuine taiyo yuden is the way to go.Or verbatim.All those brand names outsource their media to many different manufacturers. Very difficult to tell who made them,unless you can look at those labels for country of origin.

xrefufzex: What's the brand name and model# of your DVD-RW drive?

Some models seem to prefer a certain MID code.Some also booktype to make those backup copies more compatable on stand alone players/game consoles/and other pc drives.


All those prices in your link is way too much! We can find you better media cheaper than that.

I use RiData DVD+R 8X's. RICOHJPN R02's. Best media for PS2 IMO out there, never failed me, not even 1 coaster, burnt more than 45 PS2 games, I use a Lite-On SOHW 1963S, I bought them from newegg and got a free 50 pack of RiData CD-R's with it too(52X, 700MB). I reccomend these.
