Fantastic 4 with CloneDVD2, IC DVDCopy 4, Recode2

I just made a copy of Fantastic 4 using AnyDVD 5.6.3.1 and the following programs:
1. CloneDVD 2
2. InterVideo DVD Copy 4 Platinum
3. Nero Recode2
InterVideo DVD Copy 4 was by far the fastest 11 minutes from DVD insertion to ejection.
CloneDVD 2 was next fastest 14 minutes.
Nero Recode 2 was the slowest at 18 minutes.
I copied the main movie only.
I noticed CloneDVD 2 showed 79% compression, but when I clicked the next button it showed no compression. InterVideo Copy 4 and Recode 2 both showed slight compression. I may have left AC 3/2 sound source selected but I don't think so.
Anyway I then played back each movie and looked at quality. CloneDVD2 and InterVideo DVDCopy 4 were both as good as the original. Nero Recode2 was very good, but I could tell a quality difference on my 55" WS. On my 35" I couldn't tell much difference from any of them.
So there you have it. These three software programs are running neck and neck.
One thing I do notice is that CloneDVD 2 likes to shut down if I click back and next several times to change options, but no problems if I just make a copy and stick with my original selections.
Specs: I burned with a Sony DRU 710A with FW BYX5 I used the following media:

The quality score came out to a 97% and I burned at 8X. I have found for some reason that these disk get a better quality score burned at 8X then 4X and I don't know why???
When I burn at 4X my quality score is between 90-95 with the majority being 90% and when I burn at 8X the quality score is between 95-97% with the majority being at 97%...any ideas why? I always thought slower was better.
Still good media = good burns.
I will test the SOUND of each later this week and if anyone wants to know the results just reply to this message and I will update later this week.

I always burn my TY (+ and -) at 8X... If you truly want the best quality back-ups, get DVD Rebuilder!!! I use CCE, but Hanks encoder is excellent as well, and it's free. For compression levels less than 75% with Recode2, I opt for DVDRB...

Never tried CCE. For the price I guess I'll have to pass. I look for the other though, thanks.

Good post...........keep us informed.
Right now I'm mostly using, Nero Recode & Clone DVD2.
I never heard that about the speed @ 8 X, being better(picture quality) than @ 4 X's before ?
I have a Plextor w/ PlexTools. If it's true about the speed maybe I'll up the master speed on my Plextor from 4 X to 8 X's ???

It's strange, but I have tested several DVD's and this batch anyway has better quality results @ 8X than at 4X. It may be my burner.
I will update the other information after Christmas. Unfortunately my job during this time of they year consist of 16 hour days.

Update: The sound on all copies were great. I did notice the Sound on InterVideo 4 to be a little louder and a bit cleaner, but no so much so that you could tell a noticeable difference.

Maybe so, but on this drive and my test I am getting better quality with the Nero test. I guess it's like some burners just don't like to burn at some speeds.
BTW 100% perfect copies no glitches, just pure movie and sound. But then again that is why one should find out what works best for them and their set up of hardware/software etc.

It's very strange that people evaluate different softwares to get the best timing for ripping a DVD & ends up burning a 8X media at 4X speed. I burned at 8X on all four of my DVDRW. In fact my NEC ND3540A burns at 12X on 8X media. I ever tried burning at 16X on 16X media - no problem in burning or viewing. All these are for burning video only. For data backup purposes, I use Verbatim 2x media.
