Good Prices on Good Media! Personally,I would go for the 100 pack of Fuji DVD+R IF they are Made in Japan (TYs.) Sweet! For about 30 cents apiece, Get them! Of course those Verbatim 16x at Office Max are also Sweet! I burn both at 8x, but the Fuji MIJ [YUDEN000 T02] media seem to play back better every time.

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

Movies27: I sometimes re-rip my copies on the fly with nero/dvd decrypter ISO mode/and conventional DVD Shrink-Nero rip-autoburn.

I ran into a few copies of fuji yuden000-T02 that would not let me re-rip them.I found out the copies those copies were burned at 2.4x on my benqs.I get more errors at 2.4x than I do at 12x or 16x. 4x backups are re-rippable so far. No more 2.4x burning for me! 4x and 8x from now on for my yuden000-T02 and 8x-12x on my MCC-004.

What is your backup target size?
I keep all mine at 4360 mbs in DVD Shrink.

Try some scans with dvdinfopro/kprobe/plextools/or nerospeed test to see how those errors look.

Here's some more sales:

Office depot: Verbatim DL media. 3 pack verb Dl for $14.99 and get a second free.

Best Buy: Digital movie quality 4x spindles of 25: $11.99-MCC-002 on the plus format.

Verbatim DL 10 packs for $20.99

The only maxells I saw on special, but not that great of a bargain are at Office Depot:

15 pack for $9.99
50 pack regular $24.99
50 pack of full hub/white/inkjet printable- $29.99

The full hub printables would be the best bargain.I've only used 25 pack spindles of +8x,made in japan maxell full hubs.Hopefully they have the same MID code for the 50 packs.

I just got back from best buy. Only took 45 mins. Their site map said it was 60 miles, LOL

All fuji media that they had in dash/plus/r/rw were made in taiwan so I didn't pick up any.Including their 25 and 50 pack spindles.

I did get the 10 pack of verbatim DVD+R lightscribe that were on sale for $7.99! I think I forgot to list them in earlier posts.I'll have to burn them on my benq and take them over to dad's on christmas eve to try the lightscribe. My HP640c is sitting in a box-pc of crap.

Even their sony 25 pack plus's were made in taiwan.Their dash's were made in japan. They did have a stack of 50 pack yuden000-T02's,but for $40!!! Holy Moly! No maxell media, and very little verbatim-Bummer!

First time bestbuyer,so I hit the nearby white castle.First time there as well!

Hey, has anyone bought any of the Fuji 16X DVD+R from Best Buy that are Made in Taiwan? If so, WHO makes those? I am speaking of the 100 pack spindles for $29.99. I looked at all they had & they were all Made in Taiwan. The DVD+R & DVD-R too. 16x, but made in good ole Taiwan. If they're a decent Maunufacture I.D. I am going to buy them. If they're crap. Well, you know.

that is COMPLETELY new to me too, i have NEVER gotten TYG02s on the 8x Sony dvd-r MIJs...but IF you have...dang u got lucky...

the MIJ Sony 8x dvd-r for ME here in CA, have always been Sony coded...the FUJI 8x dvd-r MIJ have been TYG02 for me, but never the Sony brand~ :)

i'm not sure if you have the 2 brands confused or if you DID in fact get TYG02s on Sony's 8x dvd-r...either way...that's NEW to me~

docTY~

edited...forgot to add, bunnyrip, the Fuji 16x dvd+r MIT are a product of Philips/CMC MAG Oxonol dye...it's supposedly "new" dye process formulated jointly by both Philips and CMC MAGNETICS...

Fujifilm DVD+R 4.7GB PHILIPS.C16 16x ( i have NEVER trusted ANYTHING with Philips code on it...at least with the 8x and slower speeds, it was PURE CRAP...don't know if this new "oxonol dye" is any better, but you have to remember it's fairly new to the market...as with anything new, i don't PERSONALLY want to be a guinea pig and waste my money on it...but, that's just ME, i would never use anything w/ Philips code on it, if the future of it's media is ANYTHING like it's past...it's gonna be garbage at a faster rated speed) :)

Recommended Media:

Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03
Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

I bought two 50 count containers of your Sony 8X DVD-R media (Made in Japan) at a local retailer ! BESTBUY ! and was just curious as to when sony started manufacturing their own DVD media? I am aware that there are several DVD media Manufacturers /plants in Japan but that none as far as I know of are Sony ! Has sony built a new plant ? Just curious because most companies Don't actaully manufacture there own media - They outsource / or contract witha media mfr. Such as Taiyo Yuden , TDK , CMC ect... If this is what your doing -Who's making them for you? Thanks _ Happy Holidays !!!!!!!

@BIGTOXY69

Thanks buddy for the info I have been using Sony with great success and have not had any bad burns. Was not aware that the -R's were also Taiyo Yuden, which totally makes me happy. Since I have my old standalone which only plays the -R media I do use it because I have a NEC 1300a that does not booktype. However, the +R Sony's do burn like butter and the playback is great. Merry Christmas and Happy Burning New Year.

Hmmmm,
Very Interesting that Sony DVD-R 8x Media is Taiyo Yuden Made. By the way Fellas, I was confusing my media I.D. Code on the Sony DVD-R 8X media with my Fuji DVD-R 8x Media which DO code as TYG02. It appears thoough that the Sony DVD-R MIJs are in fact TYs as well.
By the way, Thank You to Doc Ty~ for the info on the Fuji DVD+R 16x. I did not buy them & I will not gamble 30 bucks on a 100 pack of anything with Philips Or CMC Mag in the name.
Man, Fuji messed up there.
Merry Christamas to Everyone at AfterDawn! :-)

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.
