sounds good to me~ :) go figure as to why so many people have had success with MIJ Sony's DVD-R...bigtoxy's email is PROOF that they are manufactured by the one and only, TAIYO YUDEN~ :)

Sounds like a Cartoon show don't it LOL! Yeah you did the right thing I went fort the Fuji's Looking For the MIJ's but the Local BESTBUY only had the 16X Taiwan'S So I saw the sony's And I thought that they said MIJ on the Package but that Damn writing gets smallre every year so I flaggeddoen a BESTBUY ASSOCIATE wearing glasses and ask him to read whether they said Japan or Taiwan & once I was sure they were Japan made I got 'em ! I was expecting them to code as Taiyo Yuden so I was a little bummed when they coded as sony but in the end they're still Taiyo yuden so Yeah BabY OH! BEHAVE ! Anyway thanx to everyone that has helped me this year with intelligent , helpful , witty & even some downright funny post! Your a great bunch of peoples !And if I helped anyone out in anyway even a little Then I'm Gratefull & happy to do it ! Best wishes & happy Holidays ! Happy burning!

SONY +R/-R are made by the same company just different manufacturing locations (Taiwan & Japan). The email as well as other online DVD media articles have long dispelled the geographical myth of better media in Japan with regards to SONY blank DVD media. I'm happy that "Great SONY DVD media" is just a short drive away. People, don't be scrared into or mislead into thinking you have a bad batch of SONY DVD media because it was manufactured in Taiwan.:) For reference just check out the SONY media reviews at videohelp.com where you will find very positive feedback on SONY 8x -R media and most of the SONY media referenced is made in Taiwan. Maybe this supremacy thing is cultural. And if we were talking cars one would have a valid point , but were not.

Still on subject: Let's talk "Irony". Sony sells High Quality Media, for sure. Then does all they can to prevent backing up movies with them. Go Figure.

bunnyrip- Money Talks does'nt it ! usually in doublespeak! example ! Brass knuckles ! While legal to own in most states They are illegal to carry on your person ! & to avoid social stigma many Knuckles manufactures & sellers Delude themselves and you (WINK WINK!!!!) By selling theese mayhem devices as exotic paperweights !!! Same thing with Sony - You can make a Fair use copy of a movie for your own use legal !but under the DMCA = Digital Millenium CopyrightS Act ! if you decrypt am encoded DVd or Movie ! (MACROVISION or WORSE) to record it and nearly all are encrypted ! then you've broken the law ! Makes sense huh? MOney issue sony sells computers & CD/DVD burners & everything else ! & they would prefer /want you use their Sony Brand media in them that way the make their money on both ends front and back ! bunnyrip- anyways I agree ist's silly ! Yes, Money does indeed talk, Very Loud too! Sony indeed sells everything from PCs with DVD burners to Quality Media to use in them. To do what with? Burn DVDs. What else can you do with the media. Back Data Up? Sony would indeed go broke in the media market if that was the case. Like you said, they are making money on both ends. Irony Defined!

Taiwan does make some mighty fine discs, ie Verbatim for instance. Sony would appear to be very good discs (Taiwan also) however the Taiyo Yuden Sony's are NOT made in Taiwan but only in Japan. Still nothing wrong with discs from Taiwan, just clarifying that NOT ALL Sony discs are TY. (i don't use Sony myself but only as i can't find any reasonably prices here in UK). gonna go have a nose on my fave supplier's website and see if they do have any Sony these days while it's on my mind..
