I am trying to back up my copy of the game but when I FTP the disk all it has is an .img file of 600 odd MB. I have tried searching on here and googling the answer but cant seem to find a specific answer.

Is this some kind of game protection or does the original game unpack once booted up in xbox??

if its only 600mb just burn it onto a DVD-R or if you meant 6000mb or 6gb then compress all the game videos thats what i had to do with jade empire

I'm sure the game is bigger than that...nless you're looking at the gta3 image in the cache.

i agree, 600MB seems far too small for a game like GTA3
but that could be right. I looked at a few sites that had the DL of it, and they were all about that size for Xbox version.
Odd because the PS2 version was like 1.53GB

might be quite smaller if you rip the audio out....?

But I doubt it'd get to that size.

No its 600MB which obviously extracts itself somehow. I did burn that image to disk but knew it would not work....the old GTA games are 2GB at least and this is a huge game.

Funny but you dont see it offered for download either much if at all so it must have some protection ....

I know with other games you can take out demos etc but this game just does not follow the format of other games ie folders etc.

Very strange
