I was trying to burn the movie The Shining. It was an AVI file and I then converted and forgot to check the converted file before I spent all day burning it to a dvd

The info I wanted is where did you obtain the files(The Shining) is it from an original DVD that you are backing up or from a download?

This is the info I was after. Having downloaded many movies myself I have found this problem on a number of occasions. Most movies I have found are taken with a video camera directly from the screen hence the audio will almost always be out of sync with the actual movie. If you download movies I suggest you look for ones that are DVDrip, these are from an actual DVD and the quality is very good.

If theres nothing wrong with the copy on your computer its not out of sync.
When converting AVI to DVD, You musent touch or use the computer for anything else unless you have a high power machine! This process takes up alot of memory and as soon as you start doing other operations you get out of sync in parts.
Try using NeroVision Express Instead, I convert tons of AVIS, and never get problems with sync unless I start using the computer for other uses.
Let it convert turn off the monitor walk away and dont come back untill it finishes.

Ah ha...thtas most likely my problem...I have been doing a million things like downloading, surfing and even listening to audio files while converting. Is it the same when burning the disc, should I leave the computer alone then too?

It would be interesting to see what happens if you take aim2shame's advice, I agree with him about multitasking but do NOT believe that is your problem. I do NOT multitask whilst burning, I use NeroVisionExpress4 and use top quality media. Re burn it and see if problem persists, good chance it will. There's a big difference in watching a movie on your pc compared to watching it on a TV!!

You should also try dvd santa http://www.dvdsanta.com
the trial version is limit free(never expires) and only leaves a small watermark , as for Nero vision express alot of members tend to avoid this when converting only one file as it is very slow , but use it to maybe put a collection of files together :)
