I've always gone with ritek, but I've recently heard a few reports of bad discs. I haven't bought riteks in 8 months... has their quality dropped?

There are two reasons I don't immediately switch to verbatim:
1. price
2. I want 4x dvd-rs, and meritline only carries white inkjet-printable verbatims in this category. I prefer silver matte over white labels.

So is ritek still good, or what?

And what do all of you prefer? White labels, or silver? And why?

Perception is reality.

Ritek is pretty much second tear media but still good stuff

Taiyo Yuden and or Verbatim are both top notch(which most use in here) i picked up some TYGO1s 200 pack for 55.95 with free shipping from supermedia store.com a few days ago. so i would check some other sites rima.com is a good one too. and i just use the silver top since i use a sharpie and of course its less expensive

@ medialife hi @)
yep use nothing else myself
if they don't do RitekG04 -r4x. try RitekG05 -r8x , should be the same price
i use shiny marked with a sharpie for my own backups, and white printables for my customers

I have burned a lot of Ritek R03 in +R 8x and have not had any problems with it at all. Seems to be great stuff. Time will tell.

medialife,
Check BestBuy and a few of the Big Box stores because they had Verb's on sale at a very low price for 16X. Bot 100 and did not need them but the price I could not pass up on. 50 for $12.95 Burned 2 movies and they play flawlessly

Ritek is Good but they had a problem about 4-6 months ago w/ some of the disks but they hopefully corrected that problem. There was a newspaper article about it in the Times or the Post ( you can Google for it)

@gear79 buddy,

Hehehe... how about I give you a bottle of Corona? Glad you like it and trust me, they does looks more professional don't they? Yep... I gotta love my precious R300 man -- this printer is amazing, that's all I can say.

Maybe I should scan my backup of "Madagascar" or something else, so other newbies can think about the R series.

Hello all, i bought some Office Depot 8x +R's that code as Ritek R03. People let me tell you i have Verbatim 8x and 16x +r's and TY 4x and 8x plus and minus format, well that office depot Ritek R03 is just as good, holds up great no problems at all! In my opinion all three work the same:) no quality issues with those OD R03's at all! A+ media in my opinion :)even burned those suckers at 8x speed no flaws in playback at all :) just my two cents/unjust
