i am using dvd shrink v3.2.0.15 and have been using it for over a year. i havce burned hundreds of movies yet here recently, the encoding speed has decreased and where it may have taken 2-3 hours to encode, it is taking well over 24 hours (needless to say, i cancelled the encoding process after 64% was complete because it was taking forever).

is there an update or a patch to the version that i currently have so that i may fix this?

Your computer has probably slipped into PIO mode. Use this guide to set it back to DMA mode: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/checking%20DMA.pdf

I would also recommend defrag your hardrive on a regular basis.

If you click on run>Settings>control panel>System you will see this:

It will tell you the processor and how much ram that you have.

You need to upgrade your ram situation. Windows itself requires up to 128mb of ram just to run the operating system. Your burner drive can take up ram (mine requires 512mb) so you see you are quite short.

Upgrade to about a gig and you will notice a marked improvement on your burn time.

You would have to purchase RAM and install it in your system or have someone do it that knows how it is done. It's quite easy really.

Why you have not had the problem before I have no idea. I would have thought that with only 248mbs of ram you would have had lots of trouble with slowness before now.

Have you defragged your hard drive lately? Maybe that will help.

yes, i have defragged it today. i have never had this prob before (except for dial up slowness)...since i have had fios (verizon) i have not had a slow moment like this. i can see the hours increasing every time i try to encode. i don't know what else i can do...something else is running in the background and i think that this is what is making me slow down...i just don't know what it is. i looked at the store today (just the px) to see about increasing my memory...i didn't find anything. i will ask my imo office tomorrow on if they have anything and instruct me on how to install in on a laptop.

thanks for your help...and you understanding since i don't have a clue as to what i am doing.
