Hi, welcome to the forum. Use the guides located in my signature for how to burn with DVDdecrypter and DVDShrink. This will be an excellent resourse for you.

Cheers.

Yes, icefishing is my other passion. Went this weekend and caught a nice mess of bluegills. Tasty is all I can say, fileted, dusted in drakes mix, and pan fried to a golden brown. Mouth watering!

I digress.....

When I first started it was certainly confusing, and seem to be too much for one mind to handle. So I took the easy route. Took the guide that I provided, those two programs and a movie and a blank disc. Viola, it was all that I needed. You have to start somewhere right?

I did not have Nero so I didn't need to check that on out. You have Nero so here is another guide for you:

http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/burn%20with%20nero.pdf

What I would suggest is to choose a process and do it that way only. Don't deviate until you become totally familiar with what you are doing and you will then know what you can change to remain successful.

@bluesky78

Now you are confusing me.

Follow the step by step instructions in the guide that I just provided you the link to.

Step by step exactly as explained in the guide. When you are done following the steps, you will have a backup copy of a DVD.

Cheers.

Okay bluesky78, now I am back on speed with you.

Here is how you do it.

First you have to rip the DVD to your harddrive. Follow the guide in my signature for doing this (DVDdecrypter guide). Once it is ripped to the folder (you create the folder like the guide says) then you can burn with Nero using that guide.

I think the whole process is simpler just by doing it all with DVDdecrypter and DVDshrink, but that is my opinion.

Do you have DVDdecrypter and DVDShrink?

Note to Paddy Mail:

Again ----- understood!!

to 9mm : ( by the way - is that a your gun??) a hunter too??
by the way i am married to an avid fisher/hunter type/marlboro man .....

i originally only downloaded the shrink... thinking that's all i needed and my HP Sonic copy program would "burn" but i didn't no how to hook it all up...

I just printed your dvd pages: dvd decryter and shrink..all 31 pages..(in 45 steps) and your Nero instructions which i will all try tonight on my home computer. work has no dvd stuff.

The order was getting me fuzzy as well as the plethera of differnt products... AND with all the hype on Nero 6 vs 7 problems i did not know whether to use it OR Imgburn??

I will get this .... i am technologically qualified ..... and I have TESTOSTERONE!!!!! I work on cars with my dh as well!!

Thank you!!

Download and install DVD Decrypter. You really don't have to do anything with it. It just runs in the background. To burn open DVDShrink only and run that. DVDDecrypter will automatically do it's job. Here is the tutorial I used.

http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvdshrink31-main.htm

Burning DVDs is not as hard as it seems. It's really pretty easy. However, when you get into reading all the info, that is overwhelming. Don't read too much at first, just get the basics down first, because if you read too much it becomes overload and makes no sense. Take my word for it. I'm a newbie at burning on the PC too.

No problems, My process is to open dvddecrypter and on the menu bar is a mode menu. I select file f and insert the DVD into the dvd reader. I direct decrypter to that reader and the files come up. I tell decrypter where to put the files and click the decrypt button. In about 14 or 15 minutes the files are on the harddrive.

I would open shrink, and reauthor the movie as I only want the move and nothing else. Click backup and away you go. Once shrink has done its thing and created the ISO then you would open decrypter and under mode menu select write ISO.

Put in your blank dvd disc and click burn.

Another 15 minutes and you're done.

Follow the guide and you will not have any problems. Set the settings exactly like the guide.

Use good media.

If you have porblems post back. Once you get the process down it will become second nature. I have not had a coaster in over 500 burns.

I do it all the time without Nero as I don't have it. I use DVDdecrypter to burn with. Does a great job. Nero is a great tool as well. Lot's of folks swear by it. If you have it, at some point you may want to use it. I certainly would not discard it. Just decide which method you want to use first. Become comfortable doing it one way and then as you get more proficient you can expand your horizons so to speak.

Yeah, I do that too... I have Nero and DVD Decrypter installed on my computer. I generally only use DVD Decrypter to rip the iso to the hard drive.. but once in a while I'll use it for burning an iso of a game or movie just for the hell of it.
I wouldn't wnat to even list all the software I have installed on my computer for various purposes (most of them to do with PS2 and movies though) :)

@bluesky78 - sorry for the shaky start. Welcome to the forum and I hope your stay here is long and enjoyable.. good luck with your burning, if you have any questions in the future I'd be more than happy to try and help you out :) Hope you enjoy your trip
