We need some questions answered first:

1)What is the brand name/format/and speed rate of your media?
2)What is the brand name and model# of your DVD-RW drive?
3)How fast was your backups burned?
4)Brand name and model# of your car's dvd player?

Okay, now after reading everyones messages looks like I was ripped off. But anyway it is the DVD Cloner III. I am pretty sure I selected DVD to D5. Reading speed: mid, Burning speed: max, D5 disk size: 4300M. Using Philips DVD+R, 1-8x, 4.7G, 120 min (have no idea if this is a good disk selection) and burner is LG External Super Multi DVD Rewriter Model GSA-5163D, (DVD-R/RW,DVD+R, DL(double layer) and DVD-RAM), 16x DVD+/-R max writing. The copy took about 40 min to burn. The player in car only says panasonic, no model. Thank you for your help.

Definitely try some higher quality media like japanese sony/fuji/maxell or Taiyo yuden/verbatim.

You may have to tinker around with the dash format.Make sure they are quality media. Dvd players can be picky on the lower quality crap which phillips is known for.

LG does have the ability to booktype the plus format to dvd-rom.That takes care of a lot of no disc inserted errors.I am unfamiliar with your external LG writer. You may try googling their main website and look for info on booktyping and even check for a firmware update. Sometimes FW updates can take care of playback issues.

I've encounter players with the same issue because of burning software. Dvd cloner III-you got hosed!!!

There's lots of good programs out there and majority of them are free. I find nero's burn engine to be the most compatable in stand alones. DVD Decrypter is free/has a ripper and has a burn engine. Both these programs need DVD Shrink to compress the dvd-9's into dvd-5's,also free.DVD Shrink rips and compresses. It needs another program to do the burning like nero/dvd decrypter/or CopyToDVD.

saugmon, I downloaded my free upgrade to Cloner III and haven't even installed it to look at it. I'm gonna have to get around to that and see if there have been any worthwhile changes.

Cheers and Have a Merry Ohio Christmas!

DVDRippah,
You said "wish I had not bought 50 of the +R, but we learn......"

If you are refering to booktyping, the +R Disc's will still be able to do that. Just buy a better quality next time. I recommend Verbatim.

Thanks,
JBurden

Keep that spindle of phillips +8x around. If you can get that drive to booktype, they just may work later.

Be cautious with those. They are great to play around with and practice with, but stand alone players do have a harder time reading re-writeable dvd media as apposed to the R media.Maybe try a couple and test them out in that car dvd player.

If you try some dash, get a small 3 or 5 pack of maxells at a wal-mart or other electronics store. Make sure they say made in japan on the wrapper.Avoid them if they say made in japan because cmags are in some of the smaller 3/5 pack dash-jewel case packs. Made in Japan labeled spindles/jewel packs also come in handy for sony and fuji. The quality will be better, and the price is usually the same,no matter if they came from japan or taiwan.

Booktyping is where you can change you +R media to DVD-Rom, which will probably play in your car. Open DVD Decrypter and on the bottom right side you will see a book, click on that and then on your lg burner and follow prompts. Should set to DVD-ROM.
