When you go to burn the project and get to the Final Burn Settings, you expand the window (look at the arrow, you click there) and select 4X in the drop down box under Writing Speed.
What application(s) did you used (ie Nero Burning Rom, Nero Express, Nero Recode 2 or Nero Vision)? I usually have Nero Burning Rom to burn 99% of all my dvd movies. Look at pictures for reference.

Looks like you're going the long way around. Opening from the Quickstart, I enter Express when I'm burning a file that is already the right size. I sometimes use Recode2 for transcoding, but that ends up with the Burn window where you can set the speed as well. Express does ISO or files. Selecting ISO and then opening it goes directly to the Final Burn Settings. Doing files has an extra step. The wizard opens a window where you have to add the files. All you do is select the folder with the files and Add. Once added you close the selection window and continue to the Final burn settings. Here's the windows in that sequence. It's a lot easier than using the burning ROM.
I do agree that it's one or two steps more when using Nero Burning Rom, but they're all the same once you've got the hang of it. For dvd movies I like to use Nero Burning Rom (I guess I got used to it by now) and for ISO or PS2 games, I used Nero Express.

You're right, it's just a matter of the interface. Whatever you're comfortable with. A friend pointed out the ease of Express and I've just stayed with it. In fact, I rarely use the Burning ROM anymore. I use it on occasion, just so I remember where things are. Seems they've improved or gotten the kinks worked out of Recode. I've started using it a little more than I had been, usually for movies in the 6GB range. I use RB for the big ones.
